Moto X Price Drops to Just $399, Sans Contract

After getting deep price cuts during the holiday season, the Moto X is coming into 2014 with a permanent price cut, including Moto Maker.

The powers that be apparently liked the results of those holiday price cuts, because the new price is pretty close to the $349 we saw not too long ago – $399. That unsubsidized price will be available at all carriers, and you can get it on a payment plan if $399 is still too high of a lump sum for your budget. This makes the Moto X one of the best smartphone deals on the market if you’re looking for an unlocked Android phone – it might not be a spec powerhouse, but it’ll get the job done for most. Those interested in shunning contracts should take note.

The new price is in effect as of now, and applies to customized Moto X units, as well.

The Nexus 5, Moto X, and Moto G creates a fantastic trio of Android phones covering high to mid tier, yet costs mid to low-range at most. Hopefully the three of them can sell volumes and steal more market share from iOS devices… Google seems determined to be an even bigger player to say the least, even at paper-thin margins.
