Polaroid never fails to impress. Here at CES 2014 they’re showing off two of the cutest darned products we’ve seen in a while. There’s the instant digital camera (with printer), the Polaroid Socialmatic, and then there’s the C3 Action Sports Video Camera, a miniature dice-sized cube.
The Polaroid Socialmatic looks strangely familiar to the instagram app icon on your phone. It’s square with smoothed edges, there’s a big ol’ lens right in the front, a screen on the back, and even an instant printer on the side. This beautiful device actually features a 14MP front camera, and even a 2MP rear camera. There’s an LED flash, a 4.5” touchscreen, 4GB of internal storage, and even speakers, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth—wow!
We thought cameras couldn’t get cuter, then we saw the C3 (cubed) Action Sports Camera. On first glance we were pretty sure it was a promotional item like a miniature stress ball or a quirky USB key, but nope! The C3 is a 35mm cube (1.4”) with rounded edges, and that same familiar app icon pizazz. The little cube has a 5MP wide angle camera (120 degrees of coverage) and is waterproof up to 2 meters. It supports up to a 32GB micro-SD card and has a microphone and LED light. Nicely, the little C3 Action Sports Video Camera is magnetic, which makes your job of mounting the mini cam a breeze.
The Polaroid Socialmatic will be available in Fall 2014, we believe for $299, and the C3 Action Sports Video Camera will be available in the Summer of 2014, we believe for $99. Needless to say, we’re excited!
