#Selfie Has the Potential to be this Year’s Gangnam Style

By all accounts, some official, 2013 was the year of the selfie. And, because we know how the Internet works, that means that 2014 will be the year that the selfie will be beaten into the ground harder than the deadest of horses. So, let’s get started, shall we?

Presenting #SELFIE, a new song and music video from The Chainsmokers, who are in fact not a comedy group. They are an honest-to-goodness DJ/producer duo, and what a start to 2014 they’ve brought us. If the flowers don’t bloom to this magic, we’re having winter forever.

#SELFIE actually dropped in January, and topped out at #28 on the Billboard pop chart in the United States. I’m not sure if that showing means good or bad things for the selfie itself, but it certainly seems to have put The Chainsmokers on the map. The song is more or less their debut, and you know, I think they’re onto something. At the rate the Internet gins up new memes and fads, they could make a living out of this. Just remix Smelly Cat and turn it into Grumpy Cat. The tree branches, they are laden with fruit. They droop so low.

Anyway, here’s #SELFIE, and it mostly takes place in a bathroom.
