There’s some platitude about the importance of a good mattress, because you spend a third of your life on it. I can’t remember the exact wording, but hey, it’s more or less true – you spend a ton of time sleeping. Or, maybe you don’t, if your mattress is subpar. Well, Casper is a brand new company that shares your distaste for bad mattresses, and they’re out to make the most comfortable mattresses around for not unreasonable prices.
Casper the friendly mattress is made mostly out of memory foam, with a layer of latex near the top to help keep you cool while you sleep. It’s supposed to hit the sweet spot between too firm and too soft, and, like any good memory foam mattress, will come to fit the contours of your body over time.
Casper also knocks out two of the worst parts about getting a new mattress – the price, and actually getting it home. Those two are very much related – Casper mattresses can be compressed and packed tightly enough to fit into a box that can be delivered to your doorstep, which cuts down on shipping and distribution costs. That means pretty decent prices for what promises to be a very comfortable mattress, ranging from $500 for a twin to $950 for a king.
We took Casper’s new mattress for a quick spin, and almost fell asleep trying it out. The mattress is super comfortable and does a great job of conforming to your body, while also providing a firm support and a nice level of bounciness. We would need more time with it to give a definitive verdict, but our initial impression is that Casper is a steal in the mattress industry.
