Lenovo has announced a brand new set of A-series tablets. The TAB A tablets aren’t going to rock your world, but if you’re looking for a decent tablet at a decent price, you could do worse. And yes, I’ll bet that prospect does sound exciting to someone out there!
The new TAB A line includes the A7-50, A8, and A10. Those numbers all correspond to screen size, except for that 50. I don’t know where the 50 comes from. Anyway, they’re all powered by the same quad-core MTK 8121 processor with 1 GB of LP-DDR2 RAM. Yeah, it’s DDR2, but hey, we’re not in high-end territory here. All three will run Android 4.2 out of the box, and will have 1280 x 800 resolution IPS displays in their respective sizes.
You can also expect a 5 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front camera, along with 16 GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot good for an extra 32 GB. Battery life is put at 8 hours. For which one? All of them! All three tablets are the exact same inside and out, except for their size. Except! The A10 has Dolby Stereo Sound Processing – the other two lack stereo sound.
As you might have guessed, there’s one more difference between these three tablets – price. The A7-50, A8, and A10 are priced at $129, $179, and $249, respectively. They’ll all hit stores in Q2 of this year, along with an optional Bluetooth keyboard stand for the A10.
