Just some quick Office news today – if you wanted to get in on Microsoft’s new subscription-based software, but didn’t really need licenses for ten devices, there’s a new plan just for you.
Office 365 Personal includes all the same software as Office 365 Home, you just can’t use it on as many devices. Instead of five PCs or Macs and five tablets, you can only register Office 365 on one PC or Mac and one tablet. That’s probably enough for many, so it’s nice to know you can now pay less to get only what you need, and no more.
Other things to note – you’re still good to use Office 365 on smartphones, and you’ll still get 20 GB of free cloud storage, but only for one user.
The take-home here is that Office 365 Personal is a cheaper alternative for people who don’t need to buy software for families or small offices. Instead of paying $100 per year or $10 per month for Office 365 Home, you can just pay $70 per year or $7 per month for Office 365 Personal. Not a huge discount, but it’s decent enough – if you don’t need all those licenses, might as well save yourself the $30.
