Last year, we took a look at the Stir Kinetic Desk, a brand new desk with motorized legs, making it a standing/sitting desk convertible – also known as a flex desk. Stir’s desk was noteworthy because it included Bluetooth and Wi-Fi integration, leaving the door open for communication with third-party devices. Well, Fitbit has walked through that door – Stir Kinetic Desks can now connect directly to Fitbit devices.
The Stir Kinetic Desk by itself already recorded some stats, like calories burned and time spent standing and sitting. That information will now be added to the stats that your Fitbit device records, with calories burned from standing at your desk added to your total calories burned count on Fitbit. Eventually, the reverse will also be true – you’ll be able to see all of your Fitbit stats, including distance traveled and steps taken, right on the Stir Kinetic Desk’s built-in touchscreen.
As it was at launch, the Stir Kinetic Desk has a $3,890 price tag, but now it’s finally putting that built-in connectivity to good use. It’s a safe bet we’ll see more partnerships like this in the future for Stir.
