ColorWare—what won’t they color? The custom paint job experts of the tech world are now taking on everyone’s favorite smart thermostat, Nest.
Using their customization tool, you can add a splash of color to the thermostat and the companion wall plate. The tool even gives you the option of selecting your wall color as a reference to make sure your new thermostat doesn’t clash with the decor. You can also choose to do away with the wall plate completely, if you want a simpler look. Nest doesn’t have as many discrete elements to play around with as does a lot of other devices ColorWare has tackled, but hey, it’s better than plain.
Adding a color to the thermostat will add $20 to the total cost, while adding a color to the wall plate will tack on another $10. ColorWare is offering their usual palette of 29 solid and 29 metallic colors, with your choice of gloss or matte finish. All told, your new Nest will cost between $250 and $280, and will ship in 7 to 10 days.
