Gionee Elife Smartphone is the Slimmest, Not Smartest

Ever wondered what would happen if a phone maker went all out on looks, letting the specs fall where they may? Wonder no more—it looks like that’s exactly what Gionee did with their Elife S5.5.

With most mobile devices, that 5.5 would probably leave you thinking that’s how big the display is. Not this time. That 5.5 refers to the thickness of the phone—5.5 mm—making the Elife S5.5 the reigning champ when it comes to thin phones. The build quality also makes it a looker, with aluminum on the sides and glass on the front and back. It was built, first and foremost, to be an attractive phone—mission accomplished.

The specs don’t suffer too much, though. It has a 5.0″ 1080p display. Performance should be decent enough with a 1.7 GHz octa-core processor. Cameras are solid, with a 13 MP rear offering and, for the selfies, a 95 degree wide-angle 5.0 MP front camera. The only drawback is the somewhat small 2,300 mAh battery, which probably won’t last the day considering the bells and whistles the Elife S5.5 has packed in.

Anyway, this phone has become the new hotness in markets in Asia and Africa. The Elife S5.5 and its attractive price and looks are now headed to the Philippines, and probably not to North America, ever. If you’re stateside, you’ll have to wait for another company to put their phones on a wicked diet.

I’m also using this phone since last 3 weeks & just upgraded it to KitKat. The battery life is around a day like most of other phones that i have used previously like S5/LgG2 & others.

Personally i liked it for its wide angle camera & the style quotient 🙂
