Runtastic Sprints Into the Wearable Market with Runtastic Orbit

Runtastic Orbit

Runtastic, purveyor of sundry fitness apps, goods, and services, is appropriately enough now coming out with its very own fitness tracker. It’s called the Runtastic Orbit, and it’s yet another wearable designed to be your constant companion.

templatesOrbit is a 24-hour wearable, which means it’s both waterproof (up to 300 feet) and able to track your sleep patterns—basically, there’s never a reason to take it off. Nor should you, if you want to get the most out of what Orbit and other fitness trackers have to offer. Throughout the day, Orbit will track steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, minutes spent active, and levels of ambient lighting, while keeping you abreast of your daily goals. It’ll also actively look out for your health, giving you a buzz when you’ve spent one hour idle.

Runtastic will also have a new app, Runtastic Me, that will serve as a companion to the Orbit. The Orbit will sync with the app over Bluetooth, storing your fitness data for later perusal. You can also see stats on the tracker itself, thanks to an OLED display.

The Orbit comes with two wristbands (black and blue) and a clip, so you can either wear it on your wrist or on your clothing. Six other colors of wristbands can be purchased separately. Runtastic is selling the Orbit from their online shop now, and you can expect the new wearable to hit stores sometime soon. I really like that Runtastic offers several accessories right from the get go. This gives everyone options, and in this crowded wearable market – a girl needs options.
