If we’re being honest, Smartwatches are a bit of a hard sell. You’re shelling out good money for something that makes you not have to reach in your pocket, which isn’t all that intriguing. But, put that in a fashionable wristwatch that we’d wear anyway, smart device or no? Hey, might as well grab one.
Omate is the latest company to go the high fashion route for their Smartwatch. The functionality in the Omate X is nothing new—it pushes notifications from your phone onto the watch’s 1.54″ capacitive touchscreen over a Bluetooth connection, including voice control and music control. The upside is all fashion. Polished aluminum encases the watch face, and you have your choice of wristbands that you can swap in and out. In fact, you have free rein to mix and match whatever you like—any 22mm wristband will work.
If Omate X looks like something you’d like to have grace your wrist, you’ll have to wait for September 1, when pre-orders kick off. Pre-orders will run through September 30, and the first 1,000 will get a limited edition individually numbered Omate X. Price isn’t bad either, at $130.
