One of our favorite budget tablets from last year is getting a little bit better in 2015. The Asus MeMO Pad 7 is getting an LTE model and an exclusive AT&T launch on April 10, when you’ll be able to get it on a prepaid or monthly plan.
Other than LTE connectivity, this is the same 7″ 1280 x 800 Android 4.4 KitKat tablet from last year, complete with a quad-core 1.86 GHz Intel Atom Z3745 processor. And, like last year, it’s looking like a solid value, although this time around, the price of the tablet will be intertwined with AT&T’s service charges.
The cheapest way to walk away with one is to buy a smartphone on an AT&T Next device installment payment programs, which will allow you to grab the MeMO Pad 7 LTE for $0.99. If you’re just looking to get the tablet, you can get one for $8.75 per month for 20 months on an AT&T Next Tablet plan or for $75 with a two-year contract. If you’re already an AT&T customer and are looking into one of the above options, it’ll be $10 monthly to add the MeMO Pad 7 LTE to a Mobile Share Value plan.
But, if contracts and monthly plans aren’t your cup of tea when you go tablet shopping, AT&T is opening up their GoPhone prepaid options to the MeMO Pad 7 LTE. You won’t get any of the up-front price breaks the contract options afford, so you’ll have to pay the full $175 price the day of. For prepaid GoPhone data, AT&T offers 2 GB for $25 per month, 5 GB for $50 per month and 8 GB for $75 per month.
