Spaghetti Chef Barbie Makes Her Own Pasta

We saw Barbie move into the presidential race and into gymnastics coaching as part of her Careers line of dolls, but there’s one more doll coming out that deserves our attention. This year, Barbie will also become a chef cooking up spaghetti and meatballs. “But everyone can cook spaghetti and meatballs!” you say, understandably. Well, this is Barbie, and she’s not taking any shortcuts.

Look, Barbie’s not out here popping a Lean Cuisine into the microwave. She’s making the spaghetti and the meatballs from scratch, because she can, and because it’s better. The Spaghetti Chef set comes with chef Barbie plus a little kitchenette with a stove, oven, colander, and a pot large enough to cook for 20 guys (just in case she has to someday). The set also includes two bits of dough — one for the spaghetti and one for the meatballs — plus little contraptions that create the spaghetti strands and roll the meat into meatballs.

The most mouthwatering Barbie set yet will be arriving in toy stores sometime this fall for $25.

  1. That spaghetti playset is a real toy unlike most of the playsets they have put out.

But how many moms are actually going to know to get it for their kids when past playsets have seemed to be cynically phoning it in not to mention the garish hot pink and orange and turquoise that Barbie is prone to use.

But does that doll not have arched feet inside her kitchen shoes?

I wonder if the playset designer watched some of those re-ment “cooking videos” and thought oh we can do better than that.
