We love looking at fan creations around here, but usually we find them in the form of digital art or clothing or accessories. What Turkish artist Burak Doğan has created is a first for us, though. He’s put together entire bookshelves shaped like superhero emblems, and while they aren’t the most functional bookshelves around, they’re too cool to ignore.
The designs are up on Doğan’s Behance page, and they’re like nothing you’ve seen before. He turns the Superman, Wonder Woman, S.H.I.E.L.D., and Captain America emblems into full-sized wall-mounted bookcases. He’s basically giving the emblems a third dimension, and reserving that space for I would hope your comic books, graphic novels, and Comic-con merch — not much else is worthy of gracing these bookshelves.
But yeah, admittedly, they’re limited as bookshelves. There’s a lot of round or sloped parts that don’t look useful when it comes to holding things. The Captain America bookshelf in particular looks like it can hold hardly anything, and the S.H.I.E.L.D. shelf is exclusively round parts can sloped parts. That Superman bookshelf looks like it can be everything to everyone, though — typical.
From what we can tell, Doğan isn’t selling these, just showing off his 3D design prowess using a number of CAD programs. Understandable, because we figure these would cost quite a bit to build en masse. I don’t know if we can totally accept that excuse, though — now that we’ve seen it, we really want that Wonder Woman bookshelf
