KFC is Now Making Their Own Sunscreen

You know those times when you’re on the beach tanning, and you’re also really craving a bucket of chicken? No, not really? Well you probably aren’t the only one, but that didn’t stop Kentucky Fried Chicken from making fried chicken-scented 30 SPF sunscreen — because nothing is sexier than smelling like chicken on the beach. About 3,000 tubes of fried chicken-scented sunscreen were given away in under two hours this past Monday, as part of a special promotion for KFC’s extra-crispy recipe.

“We think it smells amazing,” says KFC spokeswoman Kasey Mathes. “The sunscreen seemed like a natural fit.” Plus, this goes right along with the new KFC ads you may have noticed that feature a very different looking, more sultry Colonel played by the iconically tan George Hamilton. “The sun gives us life. But if we’re not careful it also gives us painful sunburns. That’s why we made KFC’s Extra Crispy™ Sunscreen,” the site reads. “Harmful ultraviolet rays bounce off your skin, while the lovely fragrance rays penetrate it to give you a healthy chicken aroma.” Yeah, because Hamilton is absolutely a prime example of someone who has been safe in the sun. His orange skin literally radiates off the screen.

The lucky folks who claimed one of the sunscreen bottles won’t receive it for a few weeks, so there are no reviews for it quite yet. However, Business Insider reports that it has left some “at a loss for words.” Not sure if that is a good or a bad thing.

All of that said, this is just yet another weird way KFC has decided to branch out into non-food products. You can also buy KFC-scented nail polish and a KFC corsage.
