We’re used to not seeing Huawei’s products come stateside, but that’s been changing this year. Their jumbo-sized Mate 9 smartphone will get a United States release, and, as promised, their new tablet has also gotten a release here. Last week, Huawei started selling their MediaPad M3 8.4″ tablet, a pretty good entertainment device thanks to a 2560 x 1600 display, Harman/Kardon audio, and included AKG in-ear headphones.
The MediaPad M3, which was announced alongside Huawei’s new mid-range Nova smartphones at IFA in September, ended up stealing the show. For its price, the display is great, especially for a device this portable. However, they did use a chipset usually found in Huawei phones from earlier this year, so it won’t exactly be a high performer, either — especially where 3D graphics for gaming is concerned. Storage is also a bit low for a tablet at 32 GB or 64 GB, but the 5,100 mAh should give the MediaPad M3 excellent battery life, especially for a device that will most likely just be used around the home.
The MediaPad M3 is on Amazon now with a retail price of $300, but is currently discounted to just $255. Huawei also says the 10.1″ MediaPad M2 will be available starting next month, although they don’t have a release date or price finalized just yet.
