In 2014, Beats and designer Alexander Wang joined forces for a whole line of special edition black and gold products, including the Studio headphones, urBeats, and a snakeskin Pill case. That announcement came around the time Apple announced their acquisition of Beats, but fortunately, it looks like Apple doesn’t have a problem with name brand designers. Beats and Alexander Wang are back at it this holiday season, although just for a new special edition of the Beats Studio Wireless headphones.
What can we expect? Leather, as usual! Black and gold is out, replaced by a dove grey with chrome on the earcup b logos. The earcup padding is covered in grey croc-embossed Italian leather. They’re much more understated than the headphones from the previous collaboration, but that’s not a bad thing — these headphones have a cool, smoky look of elegance about them. The crocodile-like texturing isn’t as obvious on the earcups, but it’s very noticeable on the included matching grey leather carrying case.
Given that Apple, Beats, and Alexander Wang comprise the principal cast of characters here, you know the price tag isn’t going to be pretty. The Beats x Alexander Wang Studio Wireless headphones are available now from Apple, Alexander Wang, Neiman Marcus, and the Alexander Wang store in Soho for $600.
