It’s been a hot year for the neon colors of Lisa Frank, with an adult coloring book and an athleisure line both coming out in 2016. Well, lest you thought that the Lisa Frank revival was going to be so 2016, think again — Frank is in talks to bring her unicorns to the big screen.
Variety reports that Lisa Frank has been in communication with producer Jon Shestack to create a Lisa Frank movie. Now, you’re probably rightly wondering how that’s going to work, given Lisa Frank doesn’t usually deal in narratives. Per the report, it’ll be “live-action and animation hybrid film about the world of Lisa Frank.” We can’t wait to see where this goes.
It might end up being a Night at the Museum kind of deal, but hey, if that’s what it takes to get neon unicorns and dolphins onto the big screen, we’ll happily take it. For his part, Shestack sounds all for the idea, saying “Lisa Frank’s world is cheerful, it’s optimistic, it’s hip, but it is without snark. It’s just sort of impossible to scowl when you’re smiling, and why would you want to? I’m so stoked to be part of this.”
We really, really hope this happens — mostly because we want a Lisa Frank movie, but also because Shestack also produced Air Force One, and we really want to live in a world with a firm connection between Lisa Frank and Harrison Ford as the best movie president of all time.
