After The Sims Freeplay and The Sims Social crashed out, we thought we might have seen the last of The Sims on mobile. But of course that couldn’t be true, because The Sims just seems like it should be a successful mobile game. Well, we’ll see soon — EA is bringing it back as The Sims Mobile for iOS and Android.
The free-to-play game is apparently available today in Brazil, and will be rolling out globally over the next few months (you can sign up to get an alert when it’s available here). You won’t be too surprised at what you get — you’ll create a family of Sims that you’ll guide through all the hardships that you can throw at them. This being a mobile game, misery will absolutely love company — your Sims can befriend your actual friends’ Sims. There will be plenty of jobs and hobbies to unlock, improve, and/or pay for, and in-app purchases for accessories and home furnishings is virtually guaranteed.
That’s if you can stop playing with the custom Sims maker, which is going to be just about impossible on mobile. This is going to own your free time, and probably own a lot of the time that isn’t supposed to be free.
