Game Of Thrones Will Set a Record Breaking Number of People on Fire in Season 7

Game of Thrones is back in a little over a month, and this season promises the most fiery deaths of any show in TV history.

The producers of Game of Thrones have never shied away from violent or gory deaths – or fiery ones. Last season Cersei used wildfire to burn down the Sept of Balor and half of King’s Landing.

But the upcoming 7th season of the hit show will feature a record number of burning deaths. According to EW, Dany’s dragons are going to be decimating the population of Westeros. More than 20 people will be shown on screen burning to death thanks to her dragons.

It was a difficult and dangerous feat to pull off for the stunt crew. Fire must be handled very carefully when done on screen. Every stunt person has to wear a lot of protective gear and be coated in a special gel to protect them from the fire during the filming of the deaths. The real danger for the stunt performers is that if they take a breath when the fire is live they could inhale the fire and suffer serious internal burns.

The sequence, which more than likely takes place during Dany’s battle against Cersei’s Lannister army, took more than three weeks to film. But that’s only a small part of the epic battles to come in the show’s second last season. There are only a handful of episodes in season 7, but those episodes are going to be full of sweeping battles.

The fight against the Night King’s army in the North, and the fight for control of the Iron Throne are both likely to happen in this season as Dany and her army land on the shores of Westeros, and she gets ready to fight Cersei for control of King’s Landing and the 7 Kingdoms.

In the North, Jon Snow and the northern armies are preparing for an onslaught by the Night King and armies of White Walkers and the dead. The King in the North will need some help from Dany and her dragons if Westeros is going to win against the Night King.

Game of Thrones season 7 premieres on HBO on July 16th.
