We’re taking on car reviews for women here at Chip Chick, because it’s something we see lacking in the market and we want to change that! They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but I’m definitely thinking whoever said that never owned a Porsche Cayenne. I honestly never even liked Porsche until about two years ago. I always thought they looked like frogs and I never understood what the hype was all about, until I got to drive one for myself. I pretty much promise you, as soon as you get behind the wheel, you’re going to fall in love.
I’m a fan of nearly all of the models Porsche offers, and I test drove every single one before deciding on buying the Cayenne, which is one of their top two sellers. I am so obsessed with my Cayenne it is unreal and it’s the best purchase I have ever made. If you need an SUV that drives like a sports car, the Cayenne is for you. So, why exactly did I pick the Cayenne and what makes this car a girl’s best friend? Read on to find out!
Sounds way too good to be true, right? Well, I’m here to tell you it’s a reality! I mean, this thing weighs and tows a ton (7,716 pounds to be exact), but is incredibly light on its feet…or should I say wheels. Having to drive in and out of Midtown Manhattan is no easy feat, let alone in an SUV, yet my Cayenne makes it so easy to navigate terrible drivers, people that slam on their breaks, potholes, and anything else Manhattan feels like throwing at me. That’s worth every penny.
It’s really so easy to drive, and it has an insane amount of power. You hit the gas and you’re flying! To give you an idea, it goes from zero to sixty in 3.7-5.7 seconds depending on if you buy the Cayenne, the Cayenne S, or the Turbo. It hits zero to one hundred in 9.1-13.8 seconds, and let me tell you I have hit over a hundred on the highway several times just because I didn’t take my foot off the gas fast enough! Told you it’s a race car.
The Cayenne is also insanely roomy. If you have kids, it’s a great choice. If you have dogs you need to stick in the backseat, or if you’re crazy about Costco like I am and find yourself leaving the checkout line with half the store, this is the SUV for you. You can seriously pack this baby out and still have enough legroom for yourself and all your passengers.
Girls’ trip? Comfortable enough to pack all your friends and their suitcases. Have to watch your friend’s 200 pound English Mastiff for the weekend? She’ll comfortably fit in the back seat and you won’t even have to fold the seats down. Went to IKEA and bought way more than you bargained for? No worries it’s going to make it home with ease. I dare you to find something you can’t fit inside!
Snow and inclement weather are no longer going to be a problem! I admit, before I drove my Cayenne I was TERRIFIED to drive in snow, rain, anything. Now I don’t give it a second thought because this baby can take on anything. I’ve driven it in 3 feet of snow without a hitch and it never slips on me.
Don’t believe me? Just check out this video of a Cayenne handling mud, sand, and snow with ease! Be prepared to be amazed. I actually watched this probably ten times before I mustered the guts to go drive it in the snow for the first time.
I swear the Cayenne is the most comfortable car ever made. Period the end. The seats are amazingly adjustable, the leather is incredible, and it even comes with the option for heating AND cooling seats. Not to mention, a heated steering wheel, which really comes in handy during the winter if you live in the North like I do and you need to do battle with zero degrees. Splurge on that one trust me.
Another thing that makes the Cayenne superbly comfortable is the air suspension. You can hit pot holes and barely feel them it’s that smooth. Living in Manhattan, where the pot holes can fit people, this is a real gift!
So let’s talk affordability. If you buy a Cayenne brand new, the base price is $60,000. Not bad! If you want the fastest model they make and completely fully loaded, you’re looking at the Cayenne Turbo S, which costs around $247,000. For that price, I would rather buy a pre-owned Ferrari California though. I think that’s just unnecessary, when the Cayenne or the Cayenne S fully loaded is plenty of car, horse power, and comes with numerous luxury features.
If you want to buy a Cayenne only a few years old, they are as low as $30,000, which puts them in the same affordability range as a Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-9, and Dodge Durango. If you’re going for one of the earliest Cayennes Porsche came out with, in the early 2000s, those babies are under $10,000. See? Much more affordable than everyone thinks! There really is a Cayenne for every budget.
