Got a shelf (or room) dedicated to Funko figurines? Then we’re guessing you get as excited as we do for new Funko releases — and they come fast and furious these days. Funko basically has an iron grip on our wallets with their Pops and plushies, and they’re not letting go anytime soon. Here’s the good stuff that got us the most excited from the past month!
It’s an all New York Toy Fair edition this month — almost. Funko introduced a ton of new Pops during this year’s show, but it was only this past week that they made their Infinity War announcements. Their whole lineup includes new Dorbz, T-shirts, keychains, Plushies, and Mystery Minis, but if you’re in it for the Pops, here’s what you can expect (so far).
New Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor Pops are all on the way, along with Spider-Man in the Iron Spider suit. Black Widow and Teen Groot will also get some love, as well Thanos and his Guardians-like squad, the Black Order — Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, and Ebony Maw.
Funko will also have a 6″ Hulkbuster Pop. And, they’re not done — this time, there are almost as many exclusives as widely available figurines (have fun, collectors). A gigantic 10″ Thanos Pop will be shaking his gauntlet at Target, while Spider-Man in the Iron Spider suit sans mask will come to BoxLunch. Then, we’ve got Vision at Hot Topic, an alternate teen Groot at Toys ‘R’ Us, an unmasked Iron Man at FYE, a glow-in-the-dark Thor that will only show up in Asia, an alternate Thanos at Walmart, and Cull Obsidian wreaking havoc in your local Walgreens. Thoughts and prayers for your wallets.
The latest batch of Stranger Things Pops is packed with attitude. We’ve got goth punk Eleven with nosebleed, Hopper wrapped up in vines, and poor Bob in scrubs. Best part? There’s rad Steve with bat and mean-person mustache Billy, so you can recreate the choicest of fight scenes. Meanwhile, Steve in the Upside Down is coming to Hot Topic, while Bob in his vampire costume is coming to GameStop.
Pretty sure this movie is required viewing in high school, right? Don’t know how else you’d learn the importance of using words correctly. This set is the first time Funko has made Pop figurines for The Princess Bride, and it includes Inigo, Buttercup, and Westley — Westley with mask on is the Chase variant.
Not much time left to make these! Just kidding, there’s going to be a million HBO prequels and it’ll be fine. This time, we’ve got Dany on her transition throne at Dragonstone in a deluxe Pop, plus Pops of the hottest new set of aunt-nephew lovers — winter chic Dany and extremely bearded Jon. Also, to my great surprise, there has to now never been a Davos Pop figurine. That will no longer be true after this month.
Lots of new It figurines will be floating around sometime soon! The new batch includes the whole Losers’ Club — Bill, Richie, Ben, Beverly, Eddie, Mike, and Stan. The Beverly Chase variant will be covered in blood from the bathroom scene. Georgie will also get a Pop, and you will not be surprised by his Chase variant — one with arm torn off and a face that makes it look like he’s been floating for a while. Finally, Pennywise Itself will get three new Pops — one with spider arms, one holding the alluded to severed arm, and one with a stoker in Its head.
Saving the best for last! This year will see new Pop figurines for Moana, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Monsters, Inc., and Aladdin. Moana will come in her ceremonial outfit, and there will be figurines for Te Fiti, Te Ka, Gramma Tala, and Tamatoa with maximum jerk grin. Pua with Heihei on his head will be an Amazon exclusive.
For Monsters, Inc., Boo, Roz, and the best octopus sushi chef in the world make their Pop debuts, while Sulley gets a resdesigned Pop and a flocked version exclusive to Toys ‘R’ Us.
The Nightmare Before Christmas will get trick-or-treaters Lock, Shock, and Barrel, while Aladdin will just get a new movie moment Pop, with Genie taking Aladdin to game show town to get his head right re: Jasmine.
