High tech stilettos. I bet you never thought those words could even be appropriately paired together! Even crazier, what could SpaceX and stilettos possibly have in common? Dolly Singh. Dolly is a former SpaceX exec who launched her own high tech stiletto company called Thesis Couture.
Stilettos are fashionably, yes, but they’re the farthest thing from comfortable and Dolly set out to fix this. I can understand this problem entirely, because I routinely don the most uncomfortable and most fashionable stilettos to totter around town and I would sooner die than downgrade to flats. Let’s take a look inside just what makes these stilettos so high tech and amazing!
So what’s so smart about these stilettos? Instead of using a traditional metal shank inside their stilettos, which is literally what it sounds like, they build the internal structure upon ballistic grade polymer. This smart upgrade should help keep your feet happier and more comfortable so you can get around town, the board room, or the runway with ease.
What’s the special tech behind them? It’s called LIFT, and it’s engineered to give your feet more support through modern materials and structural design. Essentially, LIFT technology boils down to you feeling more comfortable in these stilettos, and they’re supposed to feel more like wearing a wedge. Now that is supportive!
Thesis Couture had an independent lab perform the above test, and they found that: “In a traditional 4 inch/ 100mm high heel, the average person will have 80%+ of their body weight on their forefoot and toes; with Thesis LIFT, our 4 inch/ 100mm stilettos reduce that to <60% for the average person, and the center of gravity is closer to a natural state.”
Thesis Couture is in the process of coming out with their new collection of shoes, so the price on them has not yet been disclosed. In order to get the scoop on their new collection, you need to sign up for their emails and they notify you when they’re available for preorder!
