There’s nothing my family loves more than making money and building businesses and this apple obviously grew on that tree. I was basically born to be an entrepreneur. My Mom taught me the value of a dollar and how to go about earning it as soon as I could comprehend what money was and that was the beginning of the end.
I completely understand that very few of my fellow millennials grew up that way but guess what? It’s never too late to start.
If you’re not already an entrepreneur don’t worry, here’s what to do so you can get there ASAP.
Do What You Love
My Mom always said growing up, “Do what you love and the money will come.” She’s right.
Being an entrepreneur is definitely the hardest thing you will ever do. Coming up with the products or services you can offer is hard. Getting your business to a point where it’s profitable is hard. Choosing between going out with your friends or working on your business is hard. Believing in yourself and picking to back that over letting failures and setbacks get to you is hard.
I never said it was easy, but I will say it’s worth it.
The more you love what you do, the better everything is going to pan out for you and being an entrepreneur takes everything you have in order to succeed.
Do what you love. Always.
Come Up With Your Business Idea
This one can be tough to nail down, but here are some things you can do to help you come up with your business idea.
After taking into consideration the above and what you love to do, ask yourself what do you excel at? What are you not so great at? Taking these things into consideration can help you decide what direction to move in. You do want your own business to be a good fit for you on a personal level, after all, and you want to set yourself up for success.
Next, take a look at products and services that are popular around you and think about what they do that you can do better. Or what to they do that causes problems for customers and how can you solve for this?
Don’t miss out on an opportunity to get real world feedback on your ideas from friends and family before you move forward!
Execution Is Everything
You can dream all you want, but it doesn’t matter unless you do. Like, do what you’re dreaming about, don’t get lost in the dream. There’s that saying, “the dream is free, the hustle is sold separately” and girl, is that spot on.
Execute those amazing ideas; don’t just let them sit on a piece of paper while you keep dreaming and never get around to doing.
Build A Business Plan As Fast As You Can
Build a business plan as fast as you can, because this is the best way to keep yourself accountable and on track.
Here are my tips on how to build a better business plan so you aren’t left feeling lost!
Be A Lean Machine
Run everything you do as lean as possible for as long as you possibly can.
Too many entrepreneurs accept investors too early, give up their equity without giving it a second thought, and just get too big too fast. Be a lean machine. Don’t make any of the easy to avoid mistakes I just mentioned.
