Lume Cube Creative Lighting Kit Review: An Easy Way To Make Photos & Videos On Your Phone Look Professional

I’ll let you in on a little secret: I shoot everything on my iPhone. Every photo I take for Chip Chick, every photo I take for my personal business Bre Avery, every video I take too: all shot on my iPhone X. It’s not that I don’t know how to use a professional camera, I certainly do and I have taken professional photography classes, I just much prefer shooting on my iPhone.

Why? I’m a girl on the go! It’s much easier to pack up your phone and the gear you need for just that and head out. It’s much harder to lug around a professional camera and all the equipment that goes with that.

Achieving perfect and professional quality lighting is one tricky task and something that usually requires a heavy investment in equipment. On top of that, it’s hard to set up all that equipment, let alone lug it around!

Lume Cube sent me their Creative Lighting Kit to review, and I have to say, I’m quite impressed. The entire kit fits right in your bag, and it’s easy to use and set up to boot. The kit comes complete with a LED light that’s adjustable, very bright, quite durable, and waterproof up to 100 feet, too. The best part is it’s completely pocket sized. Not like I own anything with pockets except jackets, but that’s a neat feature and I’m all about portability.

The 1500 lumen LED light comes encased in a black, heavy duty aluminum box, so you won’t have to worry if you do accidentally drop this. It’s going to stay intact! It’s also not going to flicker on you, it’s a constant stream of light. You can also mount the LED light right to a tripod, as it has a 1/4-inch 20 screw mount right on the bottom of it.

Let’s talk about the accessories. The LED light isn’t the only thing you get with this kit, it also comes complete with some pretty cool extras. There’s a diffuser pack included with 3x Lee Filter diffusers so you can soften the light if you need to, and there are 2 different warming gels to help you adjust color and make sure the lighting looks good on you if you’re the subject of the shoot.

The final feature is an iPhone clip that is completely adjustable, so you can put the LED light right on your phone if you don’t need it to stand on a tripod. You also get access to Lume Cube’s brilliant app with this lighting kit, and the app can help you control the brightness of the light, set speeds for a strobe light, or even trigger a flash…all via Bluetooth controls. The kit also comes with a micro USB cable so you can easily charge the LED light back up.

Honestly, I think the Lume Cube Creative Lighting Kit is an excellent buy if you’re serious about taking beautiful photos and videos. You can get one for yourself here!
