Warning To All Dog Moms: Do NOT Buy These Treats Right Now!

As a dog mom, I’m constantly buying or making treats for my four-legged best friends. I really go out of my way to make sure anything I do not make myself is either organic or made in America, and I always think I’m pretty safe in adhering strictly to those rules.

Well, that’s not quite correct because the FDA and the CDC are now warning that you should NOT buy these American treats right now…

Pig ears. There has been a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella that has now been tied to all pig ear type products.

“A total of 127 people infected with the outbreak strains of Salmonella have been reported from 33 states,” the CDC released in a statement this Wednesday.

So far, thank goodness nobody has died, but 26 people have been sent to the hospital over this.

Not only you, but your dogs can get seriously sick by even just coming into contact with a pig treat that has been infected with Salmonella.

“No single supplier, distributor or common brand of pig ear treats has been identified that could account for all the illnesses. More products could be recalled as testing identifies Salmonella,” the CDC went on to say.

People in 13 states including Pennsylvania, South Carolina, California, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, New York, North Dakota, and Wisconsin have been affected so far.

If you have ANY pig treats make sure you throw them out!
