You can swipe back, swipe forward, pinch to zoom, two finger swipe to scroll…it has become a real pleasure to navigate the interwebs. But just when I thought the trackpad did it all, I discovered how useful middle click on a mouse is. Middle click allows links to be opened in new tabs or closes tabs with just one tap. Unfortunately, until Apple releases middle click functionality we’re stuck using cmd+click to achieve the middle click…or are we? MiddleClick (for Snow Leopard) brings us the three-tap middle click for our multitouch MacBooks and Magic Mice. If you’re a power browser, this app is for you! The three finger tap does not interfere with any other gestures, and works quite well. Just tap, don’t click, otherwise the click will register twice. It’s free and open source… Enjoy!

It’s not enough that your friends are already jealous of you as it is, but now you can enhance its sexy iPhone 3G S good looks with a dash of paint. ColorWare will not only colorize your iPhone 3G S but the ear buds as well. However unlike some of the other items from ColorWare you will have to send your iPhone 3G S in, along with the earbuds. Didn’t think you were going to get one direct this time did you? It will cost $150 to ColorWare your iPhone 3G S

But if you are serious about recording audio and you want to use your iPod to do so, than the Alesis ProTrack Stereo Recorder is the closest thing you have to a pro solution. All you have to do is dock your iPod in to the device and cover it with the attached protective clear shield, and you’ll be ready to start recording in the field. The device lets you record 16-bit, 44.1kHz or 22kHz stereo digital audio without connecting any additional equipment. Additionally, the device’s on-board mics are configured for optimal stereo imaging, and the ProTrack has a pair of combo XLR-1/4″ inputs – should you wnat to connect something like a condenser mic. The ProTrack even supplies 48v phantom power to connected condenser mics. The device also has LED level metering so that you can monitor your recordings. Overall, with the ProTrack you get all the features you would expect in a serious audio recording device, except that this one happens to let you record on to your iPod. The Alesis Pro Track Stereo Recorder for iPod is compatible with the iPod Classic, iPod 5G, iPod Touch and even the iPod Nano 3G. It retails for $199.

I guess there really is an App for everything, want to get a smokin’ bod and a killer new hair color well there are two iPhone Apps that should help you out. ColorTry and WeightMirror will both help you see before and after shots of what you would look like either slimmer or with a different hair color. ColorTry is an easy enough app that allows you to take a picture of yourself and then alter the color of your hair with the color hair palate. In a quick second you’ll get to see if blonds really do have more fun.

WeightMirror is a simple App that again lets you take a picture of yourself at your current weight and then depending on how much you want to loose, your face will alter as well. Both applications have before and after views so even if you never go through with any of these changes, you can atleast say you tried.

The case also sports an soft interior to protect the surface of your MacBook from scratches while also providing opening for access to all the ports and ventilation holes to keep your laptop running cool. The Haptique’s surface is also described as having a leather-like pattern.

Set-up:
Right out of the box, all you have to do is snap the top piece of the Haptique to the top of your MacBook and the bottom piece to the bottom of your MacBook. The bottom piece of Haptique sort of snaps on to the back of the MacBook where the Hinge is.

Design:
The Haptique fits snugly around the MacBook, so it’s a secure fit. Its port openings also align correctly with the ports on the MacBook. On contrast, we have seen some hardshell cases that don’t do such a good job of that. Additionally, The ventilation holes at the bottom of the Haptique help keep the laptop running cool. The MacBook overall doesn’t get too hot in general, but even when using it with the Haptique on, it’s been running cool. The case naturally ads a bit of thickness to the top and bottom of the case which should also works to protect the laptop from some minor drops.

Conclusion:
The Haptique claims to have a leather-like finish. Unfortunately I wasn’t very impressed with this aspect of the case. The surface is pretty soft, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say that it’s quite leather like.
Overall as a hard-shell case, the quality of the Haptique is solid and choosing one of the available colors will certainly add some punch to your MacBook while also adding an extra layer of protection for it. The Uniea Haptique retails for $49.95.

The Good:
Great color choices, nice sleek fit, provides good protection

The Bad:
Not all that leather-like

Our impressions of all of the hard drives are that they are very slick. The FreeAgent Go Drive in particular is super slim and it also feels very lightweight. It’s a wonder that you can carry around 500GB in one of these things. If desk space is an issue and you don’t require all the available connections in the FreeAgent Desk Drive versions, get the FreeAgent Go. You’ll hardly know it’s on your desk or in your bag. The FreeAgent Go Drive for Mac is a little thicker because it accommodates a Firewire 800 port, but for some Mac users like myself – the extra thickness is worth it in order to have the Firewire 800 connection. The FreeAgent Go for Mac also comes with a carrying case and dock, while the FreeAgent Go does not. However you can purchase the dock and case for FreeAgent Go for $29.
For people looking for lots and lots of storage, the FreeAgent Xtreme Drive and FreeAgent Desk Drive offer bigger capacities (up to 1.5TB), and the Xtreme comes with eSata and Firewire 400 ports. They both come with stands or you can stack them up flat on top of one each other. The FreeAgent Desk Drive for Mac can’t be stacked up but it does come with FireWire 800/400 ports for Mac users.

Computer Choppers, whom brought us the Polished Gold Macbook Pro and the 24Kt Gold iMac is about to set someone’s wallet back with the 24K Gold iPhone 3G. Still in production, they are about almost done with making as they claim, the first “iPhone 3G with 24Kt yellow gold housing & Bezel.” Pish Posh diamonds are so passe, this is what all the kids want – something that emulates a gold brick from Fort Knox. Computer Choppers was even blunt enough to say how the materials this time around on the iPhone 3G were less than stellar and made it tougher for them to plate the “poor” quality plastic Apple used. Testing is still being done for those who want engravings and other customizations before it is plated, as well as how reception will hold up with the coat of gold on it. No pricing is available and as with everything they sell you will have to e-mail them to find it out the cost. So stay tuned to Computer-Choppers if this is what you would have in mind for your little iPhone 3G.

Only 50 of these will be made for worldwide consumption. The first 10 sold will cost 10K and then any sold afterwards will increase dramatically. What a bargain!

Exif Untrasher recovers JPEG images even after they have been deleted or your memory card has been formatted. There is actually a good amount of memory card recovery software out there, but most will cost you at-least $20 to $50 a pop. On the other hand, Exif Trasher is totally free. Unfortunately it’s only Mac compatible. Anyone know of a good alternative for PC or Linux folks?

Sadly this is one X-file Mulder and Scully won’t be able to solve – as to why their movie tanked in the box office. Even if it did involve some Bat and a Joker. But hope is not lost and for those few out there who still at heart will always be an X-Philies, there is the X-files Limited Edition Black and White 8GB iPod Nanos and Black and White 80GB Classic iPods. All four of them come with a different etching on the back marketing the movie that was. The Classic iPod will set you back $329 and the Nano version $269. The truth is still out there, in your wallets.
