Nokia anounced three new handsets today including the Nokia 2310 which will come with a selection of different colour covers including purple, white and cyan. The Nokia 2310 is an entry-level phone that will sport a built-in FM radio, as well as polyphonic and MP3-grade ring tones. It's been a while since Nokia has pushed out phones with customizeable faceplates that allow you to transform your phone into a personalized fashion statement. (Source: Phone Scoop)
We're used to Hello Kitty phones popping up overseas pretty frequently, but we rarely see them here in the U.S. Sanrio's Shop has a Hello Kitty Nokia 6010 that comes with $10 of prepaid Cingular minutes. The phone has exclusive ringtones, wallpapers, and a game. Unfortunately, unlike its Hello Kitty Asian counterparts, aside from the special Hello Kitty look and content, the phone is really a no-frills enty-level phone. It retails for $99.00.
The upcoming HTC Star Trek can be described as the Windows Mobile answer to the RAZR - it's a super thin flip phone that emulates a lot of the RAZRs style, but is miles ahead of the RAZR in terms of performance and features. PocketPCItalia reviewed the device and claims that the HTC Star Trek will come in a couple of different colors - including pink, which would make it the first pink Windows Mobile flip phone. We're drooling in anticipation. (Source: Smartphone Thoughts)
Afer having joined Sprint's Ambassador program,
I've been continuing to use Sprint's service for the past two weeks, so here are my latest thoughts and rants.I was excited to discover that their multimedia content offers a large selection of games to purchase - Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within, Bejeweled, Zuma - just to name a few. However, much to my chagrin, when I selected most of these games to purchase and download, I received a message that they're not available. What a tease! So far I've only been able to successfully download one game from the ones that I personally chose - the Sims 2. At-least it did download very quickly. ...
A few weeks ago I was invited to join Sprint's Ambassador Program, which is a new program in which Sprint has handed out Samsung MM-A920 phones with 6 months of free service to certain bloggers. All they ask from us is that we please give them feedback about our experience - though it's not required. Of course, this is a brilliant plan on Sprint's part to get free publicity. I have to give them credit for acknowledging the impact of blogs. After all it seems like less and less people are reading magazines, and more and more are using blogs for news and reviews.
Here is a little background on my own cellular experience. I've been using GSM service since the early days of Voicestream. I love GSM service because of how easy it is to switch out your SIM card and buy a new phone, and thus I have never really been tempted to switch to CDMA. I did have a brief stint with Verizon when the Samsung i730 came out, but other then that I haven't had much experience with a CDMA provider. So can a GSM girl be happy in the strange new world of CDMA?
Skype supports many Windows Mobile pocket pc devices, but unfortunately it's currently unavailable for Windows Mobile Smartphones. There has been a recent surge of of some awesome windows mobile Smartphones on to the market that have wifi capabilities (i.e. I-mate Sp5m & Sp5, and T-mobile USA's upcoming SDA), which is why it's so desirable to be able to use these devices for VOIP services. Some of HowardForum's members have discovered Woize, a Skype alternative that is now available for Windows Smartphones. Unfortunately, the software is beta and has some speaker issues. However some HowardForum members who are using it with a bluetooth headset claim that call quality is excellent but it ...
The Jabra BT160 must be the world's most customizeable bluetooth headset. The headset comes with a selection of 33 design covers, so that you can literally have your headset match your outfit that day. If none of the 33 designs satisfy you, you'll be able to design your own via Jabra's web site. The headset has 6 hours talk time and 110 for standby. It also weighs a scant 16 grams. The BT160 should be available soon for a retail price of about $59.95
Hop-On has released a GPS tracking phone for children that kids can wear like a
wristwatch. Called the Chitter
Chatter phone, the company claims it is the smallest GSM / Enhanced Locator
Phone in the world. Children can phone home by pressing the "Track Me" star
button which quickly identifies their location within 300+ feet. Within a
minute parents receive an SMS message on their own phone with the details of
their child's location within a 300+ foot range. The device is tri-band, and it
will store up to 7 speed dial numbers and 7 phone book entries. The phone also
features a speaker function. Battery life on the Chitter Chatter ...
Amoi mobile phones are almost non existant on this continent, so all we can do is gawk at some of their phone's uber girly designs from afar. Ok, well maybe gawk isn't the word. Personally, butterflies don't do it for me, but many gals would love Amoi's F6. Under the hood the F6 is a sublimely standard flip phone with a 1.5 inch 65k color display on the inside and a 1 inch 4k color display on the outside. It supports polyphonic ringtones, MMS, and GPRS. Yeh... no camera, no mp3 player, no special tricks. However, if you care more about style over substance and you love pink, then you will love the ...
According to Laptop Magazine's January issue, T-mobile USA should be announcing its SDA smartphone which has the same specifications as the I-mate SP5m, and also looks almost identical to the I-mate SP5m. Unfortunately T-mobile's version has an ugly hump on top. The T-mobile SDA would have the same specifications and features as Cingular's 2125 which also sports an ugly hump, but doesn't have Wifi. Confusing? Yes. But the point of it all is that these are excellent phones. I've been using the I-mate SP5m for a month, and I am pretty smitten. The 2.2 inch 320 x 240 pixel screen is spectacular for Internet browsing and watching videos. The phone even has ...
Bluetooth headsets are great hands-free solutions, but after a while, even the lightest headset can become uncomfortable. The Parrot 3200 LS-Color Bluetooth Hands-free car kit is a great alternative to a regular bluetooth headset, as long as you're in a car. The 3200 is the first Bluetooth hands-free car kit with a color LCD. It has a TFT LCD display with a caller ID photo display so that you can actually see a picture of who is calling. Of course in order to make that work, you have to store the photos on the device, or if photos are stored with your phone contacts, they can be displayed on the screen ...
Motorolaâs H500 Bluetooth Headset is the perfect accessory to compliment the magenta RAZR, or any other Bluetooth enabled phone that comes in pink. The H500 is available in Pink or Magenta and retails for about $69.99. It has 8 hours of talk time and a lovely 150 hours of standby time. It can also be paired with a Bluetooth enabled PC for hands-free VOIP chatting up to 30 feet away. But wait, the H500 isnât the only Bluetooth headset available in pink - Motorola's H700 Bluetooth headset is also available in pink, it retails for $89.99 which is a bit more pricey then the H500 but it does come with glowing ...
According to a research company named Telephia, women outbuy men two to one when it comes to downloading a new ringtone for their cell phone. During the third quarter of 2005 69% of all ringtone purchases were made by women. The most popular ringtones were from tracks from Gwen Stefani, Pussycat Dolls, Mariah Carey and 50 Cent. Ofcourse this survey probably doesn't take into account people who make their own ringtones at home using software on their computers, I myself haven't purchased a ringtone in about two years. Blame Paris Hilton all you want, but Having Swarovski crystals plastered onto your cell phone is becoming increasingly popular. Krystali of London has some beautiful and very unusual Swarovski embellished cell phones, including an Elvis and a Marilyn Monroe themed cell phone. Krystali can also work sparkly magic with faceplates, ipods, and ipods accessories. You can also have them customize your own phone to your own personal specifications. Unfortunately the cost for having your phone glammed up is expensive. But don't fret, there are always cheap do it yourself kits from companies like My Bling Ring in case you fancy jazzing up your phone but can't afford buying from Krystali. (Source: ...
This charger has a cord for every kind of phone, provides 2 hours of talk
time on one AA battery, and comes dressed in an elegant leather pouch. It
retails for $98 at Links of London's retail location in New York. Essentially this is Charge 2 Go which
retails for $24.99 without tips, this one is just packaged in a shmancy leather
pouch so that you end up getting more than you charged for or err less. But, hey if our cell phone's can get dressed up in leather, then why can't our chargers get dressed up too? (Source: New York Magazine, December 2005)
These "Wireless Headsets" from Neiman Marcus connect to your cell phone or
desktop to allow you talk hands-free up to 50 feet away. They have a tranceiver base that plugs into a standard 2.5mm jack on your phone. I'm confused as to why someone would be willing to pay $130 for this pretty useless device, and then there is the fact that its design resembles a
child's walky talky system. At least it comes in different colors including
green, pink, black, turquoise, or red. Overall, I think this needs to be put on
the "what not to buy this holiday season" list.
You're thinking "Oh no, not another Ipod rip-off." Well you're half-right.
The Hop-On 1886 Digital Audio Phone is a lot like what the ROKR should have
been. It's a triband GSM phone with click wheel controls, 1 gig of internal
memory plus a TransFlash card slot for expansion, it syncs with both Musicmatch
and Itunes, has a 2 megapixel camera, and is capable of 30-fps MPEG-4 video.
Hop-on announced this phone back in July and so far we can't find
this phone anywhere on their web site, but
Wired Magazine features it in their December issue. Where are thou iPhone
rip-off?
Black Friday is just around the corner which means that every retailer out there
is vying for your undivided attention. Amongst the online retailers that are
having sales is Geeks.com which has the Panasonic EB-VS2
cell phone in pink on sale for $214. The EB-VS2
works with 900/1800/1900 GSM frequencies and features a 2.2-inch TFT screen, weighs 98 grams, has a 1.3 megapixel camera with a 4x zoom, supports video
recording and java downloads, has an infrared port, and is Mp3
"capable" - though I'm not sure exactly what that means. But if you've been
looking for an affordable shiny pink flip phone that doesn't require renewing your wireless contract, then this ...
For a while now, the United Kingdom has had a bunch of companies that offer
cell phone tracking services. Now, a company called WaveMarket is set to bring
cell phone tracking to the U.S. with their "Family Finder" service that will help parents
track where their kids are. Parents subscribing to the service will be able to check out their kid's
location online.
There is no official word for as to which carrier will be offering this
service, though it's likely to be a CDMA provider like Sprint or Verizon. Moral
of the story kids - if you're under 18 and your parents have access to your cell
phone account - try going with ...
Move over Pink RAZR, because your 're no longer the only hot pink flip phone on the block. Vodafone K.K. has released the 703Shf Mobile Wallet 3G model. This is the lightest Mobile Wallet handset weighing in about 109 grams. Its features include a 1.3 megapixel camera, a 2 inch LCD, a music player, and support for the âVodafone live! FeliCaâ service (Source: Phonescoop)
The GPLUS AS813 phone comes in pink, red or black, measures just 90.6x33x19.2mm, and weighs 70 grams. However, even though it's tiny, it comes with decent features including an mp3 player with an expandeable transflash memory card slot, a 0.3 megapixel camera, a USB port and an OLED screen. Unfortunately, like so many other pink phones - you need to be in Asia to get one. (Source: Akihabra News)
