Philips MIC4014SB/27 Retro mini Digital Camera is not the first mini retro digital camera we've ever seen, but there is something about tiny retro styled products that never gets old. Philips' version, weighs just 35 grams, but it also only takes QVGA resolution photos, which makes it almost a toy. However it also can record AVI files and it can work as a webcam. Vivitar is known for their affordable digicams and after recently being purchased by Sakar, they are finally starting to show off their new lineup. Amongst their new selection of ultracompacts is the ViviCam 8027 which especially caught our attention because of its very retro design that sports a metallic body complemented by a leather like finish that is available in black, red, or yellow. Feature wise the camera packs a 8.1 megapixel resolution, a 2.4" lcd screen, 3X optical zoom, antishake technology, a movie mode and red eye reduction. You've probably heard of Eye-fi, they were the first to come out with wireless SD cards that let you transfer pictures from your digicam to your computer over wifi. Now Eye-fi cards will also be able to wirelessly upload video to YouTube - including HD videos. HD is becoming a must since even many ultracompact cameras are sporting HD video capabilities. Eye-fi will be exhibiting their new video upload service at this year's CES.

Using a compact digital camera is a rarity to me these days.  I can usually be found lugging around my Nikon D90 since it has all the high-end features I need for taking professional shots.
