We're always happy to see splashes of color thrown o to ordinary electronics, especially when there are quality brand names involved. Canon is one of the latest such companies to come out with different color choices for their camcorders. Their new Canon FS100 Digital Flash Memory Camcorder feature 37x optical zoom, Image Stabilization, a 2.7" Widescreen LCD, the ability to record to SDHC cards all in a body that weighs just 9.6 oz. Looking for a cheap flash-based camcorder for all your YouTube endeavors, but you refuse to buy from anything but a big brand name? Then check out the Samsung SC-MX10 which is just $199. It features 34x optical zoom, 1200x digital zoom, electronic image stabilization, 4:3 and 16:9 playback, and the ability to record to MPEG-4 video files on to SD cards. We are so not vouching for the quality of this super cheap HD camcorder, after all it does look a lot like a cheap ipod ripoff. But To its credit, the DXG-567VP comes in a choice of pink blue, red or black. The camcorder features 2x digital zoom, a 2" LCD display with a 480 x 240 resolution, a 5 megapixel CMOS sensor with the ability to capture movies in a format as big as 1280 x 720 - in a widescreen or standard aspect ratio. The Consumers Electronic Show (CES) ushers in the New Year by giving one a bird’s eyes view of what products will be available in the months ahead. Some of the electronic products offered cover the gamut of being mundane while other products are innovative. Take for instance, the slick and futuristic looking Boynq Alibi Computer Speaker Webcam and Microphone. We jumped at the opportunity to put this gadget to the test. Dubbed, the Alibi, this USB plug and play combination computer speaker, webcam, and microphone, aims to add a bit of style to the way one uses a webcam. What makes this webcam different from other web cams is that the web cam is enclosed inside of the body and is released by pressing on top. Hence, the web cam pops out and the speakers are turned on as well (this is the on/off button). This webcam can also manually tilt and swivels around. The microphone is located to the right of the web cam lens (it’s a small slit), and the speakers are housed on the bottom of this unit (four stands prop up the body of the web cam, thus allowing the sound to emit from the speakers). The volume “control ring” button for the speakers is located in the middle of the webcam and is smartly labeled “volume”, and minimum and maximum buttons are clearly but cleverly marked. Also, the packaging for this web cam is the best marketing presentation that I’ve seen in awhile.

The petite camera hiding inside of this pseudo lighter features 8MB of built-in memory for photos up to: 1280x960 in resolution, or the device can be used as a web cam as well if you hook it up via a USB cable. Pink cameras are a dime a dozen these days. I think almost every manufacturer wants to make at least one pink camera whether it be Sony or Fuji. To their credit, Panasonic has been making pink digicams for a while now. Their latest is the Lumix DMC-LS80P with a 8.1 Megapixel CCD, 3 X Optical Zoom, and MEGA Optical Image Stabilization. so overall there is a lot of punch in this little camera. Aimed for those that want to take great pics without all the drama of choosing the right settings, the Lumix boosts an intelligent mode that gets every picture right the first time around. I certainly can appreciate that option. All I want to do is take a decent picture with a simple push of the shutter button, not stand around for 30 minutes figuring out which settings are best before I take the picture. ISO Settings range from 100 to 1600, it also has scene modes, white balance controls, a 2.5 LCD screen, and it has a Leica Lens. But overall its features are pretty standard with point and shoot digital cameras these days.

We can't vouch for the quality of these hybrid camcorder/cameras, but if you're looking for a pink or blue bargain, the DXG-565V might do the job. The camera features a 5 megapixel CCD, a 2.4" LCD, 4X digital zoom (come on, for $99, you knew you weren't getting optical zoom), it also works as a digital music player and voice recorder. But it's killer feature is its ability to record MPEG-4 videos at up to 720 x 480 at 30fps which is pretty surprising for a device so inexpensive. The DXG-565V is available in 5 colors including Metallic Pink, Ruby Red, Deep-Sea Blue, Gun Metal, and Midnight Black and it comes with a camera case, wrist strap, earphones, editing software, USB and AV cables, manual, and AAA batteries.

Colorful digital cameras have become a dime a dozen but until now camcorders have stayed drab in silver or black. JVC has released a new line of Everio hard disk camcorders which are available in four different colors including sapphire blue, ruby red (though it looks pink to us), diamond silver and onyx black. The camcorders will be available in 30GB and 60GB versions and will features a new touch sensitive scroll bar system called Laser Touch.

Here is another cheap pink digital camera that is really affordable, even cheap. While we're not going to vouch for the camera's quality, the specs are pretty impressive for a $59.95 price tag. Argus's DC 5195 has a 5 megapixel CCD, it also has a 2" LCD, 4X zoom, 32MB of internal memory which is expandable via SD cards and it can record movies up to 640x480 resolution and it features TV out recording with sound.
