Zink Digital Camera Also has Built-in Photo Printer

The concept behind Zink is so obvious, we're hitting ourselves because we didn't think of it first. Zink should be released in early '08. The only downside we anticipate is the fact that it will only work with special Zink paper.

Fujifilm FinePix Z10fd Digital Camera Launches

We posted about Fujifilm's Z10fd colorful line of ultracompact digital cameras back in August. Last night in New York, Fujifilm launched the Z10fd with a big bash at Irving Plaza. Locksley and the Bravery entertained the crowd and many lucky audience members won themselves cameras. Overall, it was probaly the biggest launch we've ever seen for a camera. But being the geeks that we are, the most exciting part was actually getting our hands on the Z10fd. The camera is even more charming in person then  it is in the photos. The Z10fd fits in the palm of my hand and it goes without saying how much we love the color choices and its ...

Philips Skype Web Cam Review

It’s amazing how the web cam and the technology behind it has evolved over the years; from being a device that produced mediocre video at best to its present day incarnation of delivering crystal clear video and breath taking crisp pictures. It is safe to say, that web cams are very much at the forefront in today’s computing environment. The use of personal web cams is very much embedded into our culture (just look at social networking sites like You Tube or My Space). Thus, many web cam manufacturers are always looking to incorporate a human element into their technology. Take for instance the Philips web cam with Skype ($39.99). Skype is the wildly popular video/audio service that enables one to talk on the internet using Skype’s video conferencing network via a web cam or a Skype enabled phone. Sporting silver on black and weighing less than one pound, this device reminded me of a mini observation microscope with its rotund shape. The included head phones were fairly comfortable and light weight. The web cam instructions were straight forward and very easy to follow. This web cam is only compatible with Windows (sorry Apple users). I used Windows Vista in testing out this web cam and the drivers weren't on the installation CD (information on the CD clearly pointed this out) and directed me to the link to download the Vista Drivers.

The elements of exposure time, flash color, subject color, exterior light, and the manic curiosity of your lomographic eye come together to yield an endless number of potential techniques and outcomes." So in other words, the Colosplash is one very cool but strange camera. And as if it wasn't strange enough, we've discovered special ...

MyGreenElectronics.org’s, Guide to Sage Electronic Decisions

We all get it- Global Warming is happening. Outside of buying different light bulbs, what can be done? How do you wade through all the “green products” and make the most informed decisions possible? MyGreenElectronics.org is a Consumer Electronics Association website aimed at demystifying the lush leafy world of electronic greenness. The site is divided into 4 instructional sections of 4 R’s- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rethink. Reduce- This section contains an energy calculator that breaks down impact of various devices in your household such as TV, Notebook PC, DVD player, etc. It calculates, on a per average basis, how much it costs to have electronic devices in use, asleep, and off by the time increments you enter in. You may be surprised how much money a merely plugged in device can eat up. An informative section is “Tips for saving energy.” A few of these include: buy items with the “ENERGY STAR” label (Energy Star is a joint program of the US Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy). Go digital on your thermostat. Unplug chargers once device is fully charged. Or my personal favorite- Ask your employer about working from home or a satellite business location to cut your commute. I can see it now, “Come on boss, it’s for the environment!” Well, maybe you will have better luck. Other sections of “Reduce” include “Tips for extending the life of your electronics with proper care” and “Repair or replace?” The latter contains a link to Consumer Report’s “Fix it or Nix it?” which is a useful table identifying problems of many electronics and whether to keep ‘em or junk ‘em.
