Throwing a tour guide application in to a digital camera isn't so ridiculous as it sounds, and is certainly no more ridiculous then putting a video game in a digital camera - which is a trend that some manufacturers are starting to pick up. Samsung's L74 comes complete with a World Tour Guide that highlights tourist attractions in popular cities. Considering that we travel with our digicam, this isn't a half bad idea. Unfortunately, the software is so poorly executed that it reads like a joke instead of being something practical. For instance, here is their description of Beacon Hill in Boston, "Beacon Hill is like a maze; pathways decorated with red bricks ...

Sure, they are throwing cameras in to everything nowadays, whether it be inanything from a cell phone to MP3 players. Still we didn't expect to discover a camera in a device whose main gig is working as a voice recorder. RCA's TM416 digital voice recorder features a 1.5 inch color LCD screen, 128MB of flash memory and a 0.3MP camera. Yeh, 0.3MP isn't even half decent, but what were ou expecting in a digital voice recorder anyway. It also comes with a clip-on microphone and carrying case. RCA's TM416 Digital Voice Recorder retails for $129.99.
Can't afford a camcorder or decent cell phone camera to record your very own YouTube masterpieces? FlipVideo is here to be the poor man's YouTube camcorder. Designed to be not only cheap, but also simple to operate, it features a direct USB connection, 1.5 inch color screen for instant viewing, Full 30 fps video quality at VGA (640x480) resolution, TV viewing through Video Out and a built-in wide range microphone and speaker all for $149.99, which will enable you to record up to 60 minutes. Recently, we got several samples from Prima so that we could judge the quality of the case for ourselves. Prima has a large selection of different styles, ranging from classic and reserved to stylish and fashionable. Aside from the generous selection, we've always appreciated Prima's reasonable prices.
Amongst the cases we received was the Premium leather Turtle Case Leather shell for the Motorola KRZR. The cover is made of a smart hard snap-on shell covered in a sexy croc leather which is available in either pink suede, green apple croc, a black crocodile pattern, black suede, or a smoke gray suede. The Turtle Case is a helluva lot nicer then a skin or one of those plastic face plates you see at the mall or in China Town, and is sure to impress your friends. The case retails each for $19.95.
This is probably the first time we've ever paid much attention to a Vivitar digital camera, but it's for good reason. Initially its stylish looks grabbed our attention. Then when we noticed the price, we were stunned, even if it isn't quite a brand name. The Vivitar ViviCam 5160s retails for $69.95 and that includes a 5 megapixel sensor, 4x digital zoom, a 2" LCD display, 16MB built-in memory with expansion via SD cards. A storage case, hand strap and software are all included in the box - and it weighs just 3 ounces. We don't expect it to produce any award winning photos, but at this price it's at least one ...
We don't usually see camera manufacturers making an effort to design fashionable accessories for their products, that is usually left to third party vendors. And often if they do try to come out with some stylish cases, they feel miserably. In any case, much to our surprise KODAK's Fashion Camera Bag Series actually has a really nice selection of cases and bags designed to fit their digicams in. The series includes the Fashion Camera Backpack for $44.99, the Fashion Camera Tote for $39.99, a burgundy handbag for $24.99, a wallet that is available in brown, black or green for $34.99, a clutch for $24.99 that is available in pink or aqua, and ...

Not content to design a camera that just works as a camera, Samsung had assigned the i70 to work as a portable media player as well. As a camera it features 7.2 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, a 3" Wide TFT LCD, and a MPEG-4 movie mode capable of recording up to 640x480 at 15 fps, and it also sports some neat special effects filters and masks. Nothing extraordinary here, but then there is the fact that it also works as a text viewer, a voice recorder, ...
It may not come in pink, but we also have a soft spot for sexy ultra compact cameras that come in black, as well as a fondness for Nikon's quality cameras. Their new Coolpix S50 weighs just 4.4 oz and features 7.2 megapixels, 3X optical zoom, image stabilization, the ability to record movies at 30fps at 640x480, and a bright 3.0 inch LCD display. The Coolpix S50 retails for $299.
It's a good month for pink lovers as the Sony Cybershot DSC-W55 is the second digicam that we've spotted this week that comes in several colors including pink. The new DSC-W55 features 7.2 megapixels, a 3X Carl Zeiss optical zoom, 56mb of internal memory, a 2.5 inch LCD screen. It's available in pink, black, silver, and light blue. And we appreciate it's $199 price tag, which is more affordable than usual for a Sony digicam.
We already loved Casio's Exilim line of Digicam because of their ultra slim and compact size. Their new Exilim EZ-1050 manages to fit in 10 megapixels, 3x optical zoom and a 2.6" Wide LCD in to a 91.1 x 57.2 x 24.2 mm chasis. But wait, there is more - the camera is available in pink, silver, purple and black, for a very reasonable retail price of $299.
The All Terrain Camera from Oregon Scientific is perfect for low budget dare devil YouTube film makers. The camera is designed to attach to a helmet so that you can concentrate on not killing yourself, and not whether or not the camera is recording everything. The £99.99 camera comes with 32mb of internal memory which can be expanded via SD card to up to 2GB and it can record at up to 640x480 at 30fps. That won't allow you to create a hi-def masterpiece, but it's enough to make a decent Viral Video.
Crumpler, renown for excellent camera bags, has a new bag which kills two birds with stone. The Zoomiverse Full Photo Backpack is designed to neatly carry all of your camera equipment while still having room for your laptop. When it comes to spy cameras nothing is new about why we use them. Making sure the nanny doesn't give the kids too much sweets before bed or wanting see what the hubby bought you for your anniversary tends to be very common. The WiLife Spy Camera is the only networked camera concealed in a digital alarm clock, making it so much easier for you to disguise your deviousness. With its no muss no fuss installation all you have to do is plug it into an electrical outlet and video feeds are sent back to your PC. The PC serves as the main control panel for all the spying you need to ...
We're starting to think that there are more pink digital cameras than there are even pink cell phones. Not that we are necessarily complaining. Kodak's EasyShare V1003 is available in a choice of 9 colors including purple, blue, brown, golden dream (yellowish if you ask us), pink, black, silver, white or grey. The camera sports a juicy 10MP sensor, 3x optical zoom, and digital image stabilization features. The V1003 will be available in March for $249.95.
We love Casio's Exilim line of Ultracompact cameras because they're tiny pretty things that know how to pack a punch. One of the latest additions to the Exilim line up is the EX-V7, the world's slimmest camera with a 7x optical zoom. It also features a 7MP senor, VGA recording for movies in the very healthy H.264 format, and it has a 2.5" brought LCD display. And you get all of that in a body that is 2.5cm thick for a not totally outrageous price of $399.
The Fujifilm Finepix Z5M's predecessor, the Z3 was a stellar ultracompact camera with great features for an affordable price, and the Z5m follows in the Z3's footsteps. The Z5m comes packed with 6 Megapixels, 3X optical zoom, a 2.5" LCD screen, image stabilization, and a 30fps movie mode in a tiny chassis for just $219. But if all of that isn't enough to capture your attention, its pink color should do it.
Ron Harris (AP) posted an interesting review of Home Spy Camera hidden into clock. Even though, the web camera is supposed to let you keep an eye on your children (or their babysitter), we're positive that some people will use it to see whether their significant other is bringing any "unwanted guests". If you suspect your spouse cheating on you - then just imagine being away in business trip in another state and having an opportunity to view what's going on at home. It's pricey though (compared to other web cameras) - $330 and $230 for add-on units. Our advice is to buy a $20 generic brand camera and stuff it ...
Perhaps you're the kind of person who just wants to have it all when it comes to photography. You've been lusting after those SLRs with their 10 megapixels, but the idea of carrying around one of those behemoths just doesn't suit your ultracompact lifestyle. Lecia's D-Lux 3 has an aesthetic with old fashion sensibilities, yet its ultra compact body would never let you assume that it also features a 10 megapixel widescreen sensor, a 2.8" TFT display, and the ability to record in 16:9 or 4:3 format at a resolution of 1280 x 720 or 848x480 with a limit controlled by the size of your SD card. The camera also comes with this ...
