The Parker House line of furniture may look traditional in design but it’s very modern in functionality. Inside its chunky wood design is an integrated dock for your iPod to cleanly be docked and connected to your speakers within the media center. Parker House also offers a USB hub to be integrated with the media console as well. It supports all the older generation iPods up to the iPod Touch and will only support audio playback through its speakers not video on your TV. Maybe its not a complete solution but atleast its something. The Parker House line of furniture can be found at Walmart, Amazon and many other online retailers and will cost you anywhere from $700 to $3000! You really have to not like wires exposed to pay that much!

Brave New World Lamp Loves its Bamboo

I wouldn’t suggest holding a candle near this lamp. The Brave New World Lamp started as a concept piece of ramdom “thought-initiated construction” and was first available in Europe and now is finally available stateside. Constructed out of bamboo without an actually plan in mind. It was created by just carefully applying pieces of wood together to form a shape which eventually became a lamp. It supports a max of 20W and retails for $3214. Now that’s alot of green for some bamboo!

HoMedics Restore Water Purification Uses UV Light to Kill Bacteria

HoMedics has turned water filtration on its ear today with the release of the Restore, a complete water purification system in a pitcher. Restore will provide cleaner and supposedly better tasting tap water by utilizing germ-killing Ultraviolet (UV) Clean Technology to remove bacteria and viruses with a filtration system to reduce metals, chlorine (taste and odor), and other pollutants. Restore’s UV Clean Technology utilizes UV light in the C spectrum to kill most of this bacteria. Geez…I’m not sure what kind of water HoMedics thinks we are drinking…Its sounds like its from the street or toilet bowl with all this bacteria it plans on killing with the UV light. The Restore will retail for $99.99 for the pitcher and $7.99 per replaceable filter and be available at Amazon and other online retailers.

Today we had the opportunity of meeting with James Dyson himself and getting a hands-on with the new Dyson Air Multiplier. If you haven’t heard about it already, the Air Multiplier is the world’s first “bladeless fan” that can produce an interrupted stream of smooth air without any buffeting. We’d by lying if we said we understood the ingenious technology process that went in to the design of the Air Multiplier, and James did do a great job of explaining it to us, but instead we’ll get right to the practicality of the device. First of all, because it’s bladeless – it’s super safe. You can literally stick your head through it without getting hurt. We can especially vouch for that, since we watched a fellow blogger take a “head shot” using one. The device is also portable, you can dismantle it in to two pieces for easy traveling and throwing into a suitcase. But aside from those two significant advantages over traditional fans, the Dyson Air Multiplier uses Air Multiplier technology to draw in air and amplify it 15 times, producing an uninterrupted stream of smooth air. It’s also easy to clean, and it features touch-tilt, 90° oscillation so that you can easily shift the direction of the air. The 12″ Table Fan model will be available soon for $329.99 and the 10″ for $299.99. This is no doubt more expensive than your average fan, but no matter what, you’re getting the world’s most advanced fan.

And you can be sure to look forward to more radically advanced products from Dyson in the future. James Dyson let it slip that they have been working on robotics for the past thirteen years, and that they will have a Roomba competitor come to market pretty soon.

Philips Wake-Up Light Aims to Make Everyone Less Grouchy

Today myself along fellow journalists and bloggers got a chance to get up close and personal the Philips Wake-Up Light. Most people may already be familiar with the Philips Wake-Up Light. It made its debut in Europe first and then launched stateside only a month ago with a new sleeker and more modern design. For those who aren’t familiar with the device it helps those gradually wake up by softly increasing the light for a more pleasant and re-energized way of starting your day. Instead of just hitting the snooze or smacking your noisy alarm clock to shut it off. There are 20 different brightness settings that allow you to use it as a bedside lamp but mostly to let your rise in a soothing manner as the lamp gets brighter. There is also a Wake-Up Light with Dock for iPod that lets you rise to not only soft light, but your own tunes as well. There are 4 different nature sounds and an FM radio. The Dusk simulation helps you drift to sleep by softly fading out light and sound so you don’t see your entire day as you close your eyes. The Philips Wake-Up was inspired but a study that stated people enjoy waking up in the Summer rather than the winter. Especially those in Nordic countries were a sunny day isn’t always commonplace. We all loved the original concept of the Dulux Paintpod, it was DIY painting made it easy. Well if you felt lugging that one around was too much, now there is the Dulux Paintpod Compact. The same concept is still intact, however the new compact PaintPod is much easier to carry around to each room. Simply attach the device to a PaintPod emulsion pack, so there’s no messy pouring. Insert a dip tube, then just press the trigger and paint. No muss…no fuss. There are a variety of colors to choose from, so you won’t feel pigeonholed to select ugly colors.
