Back in March we wrote about (and bought) the Paul Frank Rubber Cases for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Well it looks like Julius is getting even more trendy with the Paul Frank Folio Case for iPhone - Racing Julius and a very Gucci-like Folio Case - Italian Julius. Both cost $34.95 and if you are getting the 3G version of the iPhone, I think these are fitting cases for a sexy all in wonder phone.
If you're fortunate to have an Auxiliary port in your car, and chances are if you have a new car you do have one, then get ready to dump your FM transmitter and replace it with the one of Kensington's mobile auxiliary car kits. The LiquidAUX Deluxe for iPhone and iPod connects directly to your cars auxiliary port to provide a static and headache free audio experience. Unlike with an FM transmitter which almost always involves some radio interference (even the best of them do) the LiquidAUX lets you connect your iPod or iPhone directly to your car's stereo system.
Despite the fact that the iPhone has been out for almost a year now, FM transmitters designed for the iPhone have been slow to arrive on the market, though there have been a few non-approved ones that unofficially work with the iPhone. Belkin's new TuneBase FM is one of the first FM transmitters to be officially iPhone compatible, as well as compatible with other current gen iPods. The package comes with a big selection of adapters to fit different ipod models including the 4G and 5G iPod, the iPod classic, all three generation Nanos, and the iPod touch.
If you're brave enough to own a Jailbroken iPhone, then SpoofApp is one app you'll want to try out. The software lets you call other phones using whatever caller ID you choose. The software also lets you disguise your voice in a fake male or female voice, and it also lets you record your phone call. We tried it out ourselves and had a good laugh at the victim's expense. You get 5 minutes of spoofing free with the app, but additional minutes will cost you with prices starting at $10 for 60 minutes. But the price of a good joke at someone else's expense? Priceless.
Speck is one of the best companies when it comes to Apple Cases and accessories, and they are currently having a great sale on their iPhone cases. That is Half Off on a big selection of cases ranging from their ToughSkin now $14.97, to the colorful SeeThru 2 packs which are currently $14.97 as well. (Thanks, Brent)

Otterbox iPod cases are kind of like the Toughbook of ipod Cases, their rugged and meant to withstand the elements as well as bumps and drops. But tough and pink can go together, right? They have two upcoming limited edition cases that will be available in pink. OtterBox will donate 10% of the purchase price to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade to support access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer. The cases are designed to fit the iPhone and the 3G Nano and will retail for $49.95 and $29.95 respectively.
FastVDO's SmartCapture Lite is a device that lets you capture analog video and stereo audio so that you can transfer if to your computer and from there to your iphone, PSP, ipod or the web. Of course there are a million devices out there that do just that. So what makes the SmartCapture Lite different? It claims to be the smallest Consumer USB-based Live Video Capture Device, and indeed it is very small and looks to be the size of a USB key and it weighs just 0.3 ounces like one. Of course you also have to factor in that you'll need to use A/V cables to connect to your TV, VCR, camcorder or ...
When I hit the road for a long car trip, I always bring my Nano in order to hear some decent music. I get so tired of the same rotation of music on the popular local stations in the city. So I like to spice it up with variety. I hadn't had much luck however listening to it decently in the car with other FM transmitters in the past. I was still using that archaic method of connecting my iPod to a the cassette tape and then inserting it into my tape deck. But just like 8 tracks, cassette decks in cars are becoming a thing of the past and getting harder and harder to find. So I was extremely excited when I received the Griffin RoadTrip SmartScan and iTrip Auto SmartScan to review. Off to the rental car company I went...
Here we go again another iPhone rip-off. I guess imitation is the biggest sign of flattery. They even make notice of the fact that this "iPhone" they provide is not from the Apple Company but a style similar to the iPhone but from a Chinese Company. We are just very amused. It features a 16:9 screen, a 3.2 inch LCD, a Camera with 1.3MP, a 256MTF card is included as well as an expansion slot for more and a touchscreen...how dazzling! Another oddity is that this pseudo-iphone features the ability to use 2 sim cards without switching your phone on and off...hmmm, what exactly do the people who buy this phone plan ...
We haven't had any exciting iPhone/iPod cases to report about lately but luckily that has changed. Over at Apple.com they just released two cases by Paul Frank. You know, the designer who is famous for the monkey cartoon image of Zoom Julius. So now there is a rubber case for the iPod Touch that features the famous Paul Frank Mascot on the back. The other case is for the iPhone and is an image of a "Slap Bass", also on the back of the case. Both cases look pretty hip and certainly would give your iPhone/iPod Touch a cool factor. Not that they needed more of one. Both cases retail for $29.95

FM Transmitters work like this - you can't live without them, but it's hard to live with them. However until now using an FM transmitter has been the only way you could play music from your ipod on your car stereo, unless for some reason you still have a cassette in your car in which case you could use a cassette adapter. Either way, both methods tend to produce a not so great audio experience, especially because FM transmitters have to battle the airwaves to get you a clear/empty channel, which is no easy task in most populated areas.
Finally there is another way to play your ipod in the car, and it's not only more reliable, but it will produce a better listening experience Kensington's new LiquidAUX products takes advantage of your cars Auxiliary port. The kit connects your iPhone or pod to the Auxiiary port for a superior listening experience. A smart remote control that is designed to fit on your steering wheel is also included so that you can safely control your iPod without having to fumble around for it.
Useful accessories for the iPhone have been arriving to the market slowly, significantly slower than they have been for new ipods. That is why these new iPhone products from NewerTech are so welcome. Newertech has a new iPhone Speaker Dock that has a built-in mic so that you can make conference calls in between listening to music with the dock. The speaker also charges the iphone while docked. The white and black speaker dock will retail for an affordable $34.99. NewerTech's other new iPhone accessories include an iphone headphone jack adapter, a mic extender cable, and an auto charger, but the most exciting upcoming new product is the Hands-free Mic & Earbuds for $19.99.
For iPhone users who were previously accustomed to using a Microsoft Exchange server, one of the things missed most is the ability to wirelessly sync and back up your contacts and calendar to an exchange server. Finally, a solution is available that will let you wirelessly sync your contacts at least. Funambol, a free open source application lets you wirelessly sync and back up your contacts to the your account on the my Funambol web site. Calendar sync, tasks and notes sync should be on the way as well. In order to get myFunambol set up you have 2 methods to choose from; either you need to jailbreak your iPhone and install the myFUNAMBOL ...
From the guys who brought you the Canvas Sport sneaker-like case for the ipod and ipod Nano, Speck Products has now come out with a case that will really gutsy up your iPod Touch. The new PinStripe Case is made up of a two-part snap together hard shell case covered in a soft, pinstripe fabric. So on the outside your iPod Touch will look like a million bucks, while on the inside it will be tough enough for the riggers of the business world. The Pinstripe case retails for $29.95. We want one for the iPhone too!
A few months ago we reviewed the InvisibleSHIELD for the iPhone which is a clear film that protects your baby without hiding its good looks. Well BodyGuardz is another company taking a stab at making clear film protectors for your many Apple gadgets. BodyGuardz was nice enough to provide us with a transparent skin for the Nano and iPhone.
We like to be different and not be too repetitive here at Chip Chick so we decided to test it on the newest generation of the Nano that I personally have named "Skittles"! Similar to the InvisibleSHIELD, in the BodyGuardz box I found a clear film for the front and for the back of the Nano, and the iPhone as well. BodyGuardz includes two protectors for your gadget. Which is great in case you mess up applying it the 1st time around or the second one can work as a replacement after your 1st one gets gunky. One difference between the BodyGuardz and the InvisibleSHIELD that I noticed right away, is that the BodyGuardz protectors looked like it would completely covered my Nano this time around - just as it promises on the box.
Application of the BodyGuardz was similar to the InvisibleSHIELD. Solution in a spray bottle is included to wet the adhesive side of the film. There is also a squeegee included to smooth out air or water bumps once the film is applied to your Nano. I soaked the adhesive side of the film and then smacked it on to the backside of the Nano first. I carefully smoothed out all the edges and made sure every part of it would stick. Then I let that dry and put the front on.
Chances are you have a pair of headphones that you prefer to use rather than the ones that come with the iphone, but you're still using those Apple buds anyway because it has a built in mic that allows you to talk on the phone. Monster's iSoniTalk is a headphone adapter that not only fits on to the iPhone's recessed headphone jack, it also has a microphone on it so that you can take phone calls and still be able to listen to music using the headphones of your choice. Overall, this has to be one of the most useful iPhone accessories released to date. The iSoniTalk retails for $19.95.
When Monster decided to deviate from their more typical products of cables and accessories for the X-box 360, PS3, Ipod, Zune etc, they decided to add a hip dimension to their designer iPhone cases. So where do you go to make cases that stand out for a cool phone even cooler? LRG of course – L-R-G which stands for Lifted Research Group fashions which specializes in street wear fashion. Founded by Jonas Bevacqua and MC Robert Wright, they originally met while collaborating on Hip Hop music. An already established designer on his own MC and had previously worked with companies such as Quicksilver and O’Neal. Monster and LRG joined together to create ‘Monster LRG’, a collection of super funky cases, with a hip urban vibe that is certainly going to give your iPhone street cred. The collection includes cases available in various colors ranging from simple red, black, and brown leather cases to much more unique purple, aqua-blue, and green army fatigue designs. What particularly makes this case stand out besides the its funky design, are the materials used. The cases sport Kolon Chamude liner for keeping your screen clean. A detachable key chain, and four belt loops for your belt or strap to wear it anyway you want too are also included. The Monster LRG is a great holiday present for anyone who has an iPhone and is looking to add a little more pop to an already hip phone. The cases retail for $49.95 at most Apple stores or on-line at lrgisamonster.com
You knew it was coming. The cheap iPhone / iPod Touch PMPs are starting to show up. Super Talent's Videog28 Mp4 Player features a 2.8 inch touch screen with a 320 x 240 resolution and a very familiar design. Feature wise, it's what you would expect - WMA and MP3 music support, and MPeg-4 for video. It's also got an FM tuner, a built in mic and speaker and eight EQ presets. Available in 2 or 4GB with the 4GB version retailing for $82.17, it can also be expanded via mini SD.
Yes, we know that everyone loves the iPhone and that it hass inspired a whole slew of imitators - mostly hardware imitations anyway. Now there is a VOIP program that has been designed to emulate the look and feel of your iPhone, even on your desktop. "iSoftPhone is an internet phone that uses VoIP to provide users with very cheap telephone calls in a beautiful interface." The Mac compatible software claims to have crystal clear voice quality, an address book which integrates with your MAC OS address book, the ability to choose the VOIP provider of your own choice, customizable ringtones and skins, and it will pause your iTunes music when calls come in. ...
