Today at Bill Gate's keynote for CES, Bill showcased OQO's long awaited Model 02. And at Pepcom's Digital Experience tonight, oqo couldn't wait to show off the slick new UMPC competitor. Sporting a makeover which includes a black finish, a brighter screen, a more ergonomic keyboard, a bigger hard drive, and 1gb of DDR2 ram, the model 02 is the world's smallest PC able to run Windows Vista. At least for the moment. It's just a shame that the starting price of $1499 will put it out of reach for most. We're still waiting for those affordable UMPCs to show up that were promised to us ...

A while ago we posted about TrackItBack labels designed to help recover your lost gadgets. Like TrackItBack, The STOP Security Plate aims to bring your lost gadget back home to you, in this case your laptop. The STOP Security Plate is a permanent bar coded security plate that sticks to your laptop. The adhesive is so strong that the removal of the plate physically alters the surface of your laptop while revealing a tattoo saying "Stolen Property 1-800-488-STOP". The idea behind the plate is that most stolen laptops end up getting sold and that whomever ends up with the laptop will hopefully notice the STOP Plate or its tattoo and call the 800 number. ...

Logitech's Alto almost transforms your Laptop in to a desktop. Meant to be as portable as your laptop is, the Alto easily folds down to a compact size for traveling. Once unfolded, the Alto provides your laptop with an ergonomically angled platform so that you can work on your laptop at eye level. The Alto also provides your laptop with a full-sized keyboard to work with. The full-sized keyboard has an integrated soft palm rest, as well as some bonus hot keys, and media and volume controls. The Logitech Alto retails for $99 and will probably be popular amongst road warriors.

Too many laptops run warmer than a hot potato. So set your laptop up on some Cool Feet raise your laptop, which leaves room for heat to escape. Also, cool feet makes your laptop angeled, thus creating a more ergonomic experience. Cool feet suction cups can be easily popped off and they retail for $12.95 for a set of four.

We've seen a few companies offer customizable stickers/covers for your laptop, but LapLooks takes the idea of customizable covers for your laptop a step further. LapLooks is made up of a clear plastic cover which you can easily insert an 8"x10" paper in to. You design and print your own insert at home, using your own printer and thus you can to easily change your Laptop's cover whenever you want. We were already fond of Sony's Vaio C Notebooks because they came in a choice of 5 colors, including pink. Now you can further customize the C series via a choice of five Graphic Splash designs which include green storm, red storm, blue streaks, angel and pink swirl. To top it all off you can personalize the PC with a name or message. Configurations begin at $949.

The Sager NP6260 ultraportable laptop manages to cram a 12.1" screen and DVD burner in to a chassis that weighs just 2.8lbs. The laptop sports a 1.2GHZ Core Solo processor, FireWire, a media card reader, fingerprint reader, 3 USB 2.0 ports, a PCMCIA type II card slot and it can be expanded with up to 1.5GB of ram. The 12 inch screen isn't widescreen, and we wish that the NP6260 was a bit more stylish, but its price tag makes you want to give it a second look since it is one of the few sub 3 pound notebooks that retails for less than $1500. The laptop is available in 2 configurations, a $1280 config that includes a 1 year warranty, 512mb of ram and a 80GB hard drive, and a pricier $1,637 config that comes with 1GB of ram, a 100GB hard drive, and a 3 year warranty. In case you're digging this laptop but are a bit weary about the quality of the company behind it, Notebook Review has a positive review of the NP6260.

While the 1.46GHZ Celeron processor in the new Medion Woolworths Notebook doesn't make it very alluring, the fact that you can create your own laptop cover for it is really cool. Aside from that really cool customization feature, the laptop sports a DVD burner, a 15.4 inch wide screen, 60GB hard drive, 512mb ram all for £399.99. Now if only they would pump out some more powerful laptops with customizable covers. Then again, maybe some images are better left suited just as desktop wallpapers...

We didn't even know that Philips made laptops, let alone ultraportables. In the U.K., Currys is selling the Philips Ultraportable X53 for £799.99, weighing just 1.85kg (4 lbs), it has a 1.66mhz Core Duo T2050 Processor, 1GB of ram, an 80GB hard drive and 12.1 inch widescreen. Dixon's is selling the X55 for Core Duo T2050 Processor 1.66GHz, it sports similar specs except that it has a Core Duo 2 T5500 processor, 100GB hard drive and Windows Media Center running inside. Like many other Apple Products, the new Macbook's are deigned with a beautiful simplicity. Unfortunately their Glossy exteriors tend to get easily scratched up and dirty, much more so then the average PC notebook. Marware has come out with a Protection Pack for the MacBook. We generally don't bother ourselves when it comes to Apple rumors, but these pictures of the new Macbook look like the real thing. CoreDuoInfo got the scoop on the new redesigned Macbooks. There will be a $999 model with a 1.5 GHZ Core solo processor, a 60 gig hard drive, a combo optical drive, integrated graphics, and a 13.3 inch widescreen LCD. There will also be a $1299 Model which will have the same 13.3 inch screen, but will have a 1.67 Core Duo processor, a super drive, an 80 gig hard drive, and a somewhat unbelievable 128MB Ati X1300 video card. Back in January at CES 2006, we spotted the lovely Asus S6f dressed in pink leather. Now, CNET has some more photos of Asus' upcoming luxury notebooks, amongst them is a cousin to the S6F - the Asus W6 series, which will also have models bound in leather. What else can you expect from the W6? It will have a 13.3 inch widescreen display and weigh just 4lbs. For more of the W6's specs, check out the press release. Unfortunately, as always, beauty comes with a high price - it will retail between $2,790 and $3,140.

Tonight at C.E.S.'s Unveiled press preview event, a couple of companies showed off some of the products that they will be showcasing at C.E.S. tomorrow. Asus is recognized for making some beautifully designed laptops - the W3v and W6v to name a few, but one of their latest laptops completely blew us away. The upcoming Asus S6F has pink crocodile leather covering the top of the laptop and the wrist area inside. The laptop looks classy, feminine, and hip. One of Sony's latest laptop series, the FJ line, is already a stylin laptop that comes in pink, green and blue. Now Sony is running a "Pimp My PC" promotion in which celebrates including Jessica Alba, Mark Ruffalo,  Elijah Wood,  Wilmer Valderrama, Nicole Richie and DJ AM have each designed their own unique FJ laptop. The laptops will first go on tour through out the U.S. and will be displayed at several SonyStyle stores. Afterwards they will be up for bids on Ebay from January 9th through 23rd. A while back we posted about the Samsung X1 Laptop that weighs just 3.7 pounds, has a 14 inch Widescreen, a whopping 14 hour battery life, and a built-in optical drive. HardwareZone has an in-depth review of this ultra-slim beauty. Though it's not out in the U.S., and it probably never will be, the X1 is available to purchase from Dynamism.com for $2499. It is a shame though because that price almost seems worth it, if not for its ergonomically-challenged keyboard.

A sub 4 pound laptop with a 14 inch wide screen, built in optical drive and a dedicated 128mb video card - this dream ultraportable is unheard of - until now.
