The Sager NP6260 ultraportable laptop manages to cram a 12.1" screen and DVD burner in to a chassis that weighs just 2.8lbs. The laptop sports a 1.2GHZ Core Solo processor, FireWire, a media card reader,
fingerprint reader, 3 USB 2.0 ports, a PCMCIA type II card slot and it can
be expanded with up to 1.5GB of ram. The 12 inch screen isn't widescreen, and we wish that the NP6260 was a bit more stylish, but its price tag makes you want to give it a second look since it is one of the few sub 3 pound notebooks that retails for less than $1500. The laptop is available in 2 configurations, a $1280 config that includes a 1 year warranty, 512mb of ram and a 80GB hard drive, and a pricier $1,637 config that comes with 1GB of ram, a 100GB hard drive, and a 3 year warranty. In case you're digging this laptop but are a bit weary about the quality of the company behind it, Notebook Review has a positive review of the NP6260.
While the 1.46GHZ Celeron processor in the new Medion Woolworths Notebook doesn't make it very alluring, the fact that you can create your own laptop cover for it is really cool. Aside from that really cool customization feature, the laptop sports a DVD burner, a 15.4 inch wide screen, 60GB hard drive, 512mb ram all for £399.99. Now if only they would pump out some more powerful laptops with customizable covers. Then again, maybe some images are better left suited just as desktop wallpapers...
We didn't even know that Philips made laptops, let alone ultraportables. In the U.K., Currys is selling the Philips Ultraportable X53 for £799.99, weighing just 1.85kg (4 lbs), it has a 1.66mhz Core Duo T2050 Processor, 1GB of ram, an 80GB hard drive and 12.1 inch widescreen. Dixon's is selling the X55 for Core Duo T2050 Processor 1.66GHz, it sports similar specs except that it has a Core Duo 2 T5500 processor, 100GB hard drive and Windows Media Center running inside. Oddly enough we can't find a product page for either of these. Has anyone heard of these or seen them in person? The X53 looks pretty good from the one ...
Like many other Apple Products, the new Macbook's are deigned with a beautiful
simplicity. Unfortunately their Glossy exteriors tend to get easily scratched up
and dirty, much more so then the average PC notebook. Marware has come out with
a Protection Pack for the MacBook. The Protection pack includes
a removable hand rest that protects your MacBook from scratches while
also adding a layer of cushioning that provides ergonomic benefits. The second
piece included in the Protection Pack is a keyboard cover that also doubles as a
screen cleaner. Think of the Protection Pack as an investment that will keep your
Macbook in good condition for Ebay one day. The Protection ...
We generally don't bother ourselves when it comes to Apple rumors, but these pictures of the new Macbook look like the real thing. CoreDuoInfo got the scoop on the new redesigned Macbooks. There will also be a $1299 Model which will have the same 13.3 inch screen, but will have a 1.67 Core Duo processor, a super drive, an 80 gig hard drive, and a somewhat unbelievable 128MB Ati X1300 video card. Both laptops will come with 512mb DDR2 SDRAM, Bluetooth, WiFi, ...

Tonight at C.E.S.'s Unveiled press preview event, a couple of companies showed off some of the products that they will be showcasing at C.E.S. tomorrow. Asus is recognized for making some beautifully designed laptops - the W3v and W6v to name a few, but one of their latest laptops completely blew us away. The upcoming Asus S6F has pink crocodile leather covering the top of the laptop and the wrist area inside. The laptop looks classy, feminine, and hip. The S6F has a 11.1 inch ultra-bright widescreen display, and features centrino mobile technology duo (not sure quite what chip that is referring to, is that the ...

A while back we posted about the Samsung X1 Laptop that weighs just 3.7 pounds, has a 14 inch Widescreen, a whopping 14 hour battery life, and a built-in optical drive. HardwareZone has an in-depth review of this ultra-slim beauty. Though it's not out in the U.S., and it probably never will be, the X1 is available to purchase from Dynamism.com for $2499. It is a shame though because that price almost seems worth it, if not for its ergonomically-challenged keyboard.
One of Voodoo's latest laptops, the Envy a:228, will definitely make you
envious of those who own one. The a:228 weighs just 4 pounds with a battery and
optical drive, has a 12.1 inch High gloss Widescreen, and it comes in several
colors including olive, red, white, pearl orange, yellow, several shades of blue
blue, black, and our favorite - pink. Like other Voodoo cases, you can customize the laptop case with a tattoo
design of your choice. Under the hood the a:228 is practically as good as it
looks, it comes with a DVD burner, an ATi RS480 High Intensity Graphics Processor, an AMD
Turion 64 processor, and you can configure ...
A sub 4 pound laptop with a 14 inch wide screen, built in optical drive and a dedicated 128mb video card - this dream ultraportable is unheard of - until now. The Samsung X1 is one of Samsung's latest laptop offerings, and it certainly is one of a kind. It weighs just 3.75 pounds, is 19.2-23mm thick/thin, with a 14" WSXGA screen, a 128Mb ATI X300 graphics card, runs on a 1.1Ghz Pentium M733, has 512Mb of DDR2 RAM and a 60Gb and 5400rpm hard drive. The only dissapointing aspects of the X1 is that the keyboard seems a bit dislocated by having been placed at the front of the laptop, and the ...
Adding a TV Tuner to your laptop usually means buying a bulky external USB
device. Lifeview now has a TV Tuner made for the PCMCIA CardBus interface, so that you can slip the TV Tuner right into your Laptop's PC Card Slot. The FlyDVB- supports digital
and analog TV and weighs just 65 grams so that it wont add significant weight to your notebook case. It also has composite and S-Video outs, and picture in
picture capabilities. And amazingly, this small card can also serve as a digital video
recorder which supports time shifting, and recording of video in MPEG-2 format or
analog video in MPEG 1/2/4 formats. For $99.95 this ...
Acer has a new ultraportable laptop out. The TravelMate 3000 weighs 3.1lbs without an external DVD burner drive, has a 12.1 inch WXGA display, 60 gig hard drive, and a 1.73mhz Pentium M processor. Prices begin at $1399.99. Personally, I'm not too crazy about its design but maybe it looks better in person. (Source: i4u)
Tekstyle is another company that manufactures laptop cases that come in
lots of different colors. However, the Tekstyl Tekmod Version 2.0 Laptop is
especially unique because it allows you to use your notebook without removing it
from the case and it has ventilation in the case to prevent overheating.
Cnet.com has a review and video of the Dell
Latitude X1. PC Magazine has a review of the Toshiba
Portege R200. And NotebookReview.com has a first thoughts review on the IBM
ThinkPad x41, a new 2.7 lb laptop, with 12.1" screen
and a 1.50ghz Pentium M processor. In case you're wondering why I keep emphasizing these laptops, the reason is obvious - after all, who doesn't love really lightweight laptops with decent power and good specs?
NoteBookReview.com has a review and some good pictures of the new Dell Latitude X1. There is a comparison shot of the X1 next to the Fujitsu p7000 series so you can get an idea of just how small the X1 is. The review also talks about its good features and performance.
April continues to be an awesome month for awesome new laptop releases.
Asus, a company which isn't too popular in the U.S., has just announced a new
powerhouse desktop replacement laptop, the W2V series, which can be
customized with a 17 inch highgloss widescreen display, a subwoofer, up to 2 GB
of ram, a 100 gig hard drive, and a Multi-format card reader. The W2Vc model will include an analogue/digital TV tuner for both analog
NTSC/PAL signals and DVB-T. A great thing about this series is that it weighs
about 7.5 lbs which is pretty light for a laptop with a 17 inch
screen.
Overall the W2V laptop doesn't exactly ooze with fashion appeal ...
Toshiba has released the Portege R200 which replaces the Toshiba Portege R100,
which was one of the first truly ultra thin and ultraportable laptops weighing just 2.4lbs. The new
R200 has a 60 gig hard drive and a 1.2ghz Pentium M processor, and an integrated
fingerprint reader. It's got the same basic design as the R100 but it has more silver on it as oppose to the mostly solid black R100. I had the R100 a while back and I loved its battery life and
size but the screen wasn't bright enough for my yes. Overall this new R200 is
really enticing to me. It's got one thing over the Dell latitude X1 ...
Averatec, a company notorious for cheap prices, has announced a new ultraportable laptop. The series 1000 will weigh 3.6 lbs, include a 10.6 widescreen glossy display, an Intel Centrino processor, a DVDRW drive, a 4 in one memory card reader, Three High Speed USB 2.0, 802.11b/g wireless, an ethernet card, 56K data/fax modem, Type II PCMCIA/CardBus Slot, Microphone Input Jack, Headphone Output Jack, and a 15-pin Standard VGA Output Port. Also, the design looks pretty nice, kinda like a Fujitsu p7000 painted in white. (Source: NotebookReview)
