StudioDesk Has Secret Compartment for Hiding Cables and Peripherals

Even though a laptop is pretty compact, our desks usually end up looking like an unruly tangled mess of wires. Keeping that in mind, the StudioDesk has been designed specifically for laptop users. It has a "secret" sliding desktop compartment where all peripherals and excess cables can be hidden. And across the width of the desk, it has an elongated slot which lets all the cables escape, so that they can be connected to an outlet or to your laptop. The result is a lot less clutter. The StudioDesk also comes with a faux leather mat to conceal the sliding portion of the desk. You can pick ...

Toshiba’s NB205 Pink Netbook Promises a 9 Hour Battery Life

While the netbook space is getting really, really crowded, there still aren't all that many many pink ones. Ok, so HP and LG have one, but that isn't that many. Toshiba's mini NB205-N310 is the latest netbook to get its pink on, metallic pink to be specific - with a textured finish and a chrome hinge. Other available colors include sable brown, frost white, and indigo blue. But for those of you who aren't so colorful, there is the black NB205-N210. The netbook's list of specs are pretty standard - you get a 10" screen, Windows XP Home, a 1.66 Atom processor, 1GB of ram, and 160GB hard drive in a package weighing 2.9lbs. The NB205 also boasts a battery life of up to 9 hours, which sounds like a lot of bragging. But if it can pull that battery life off - it'd be a netbook to beat. Hands on with the Viliv S5, UMID mbook M1 and Other MIDs

I used to associate MIDs as ultra-pricey luxury gadgets for super rich geeks, but after getting a hands on with some of them at Intel's headquarters, I was surprised to see how many new MIDs are coming out that are actually affordable and still worthy of a good amount of gadget lust. This is a concept MID device from Intel. We don't know much about it other than it runs on a spiffy futuristic, Linux-based interface and it has a camera.

New Gateway M-735u 15.4″ Laptop is Not Only Pink but Comes with a 320GB Hard Drive

Looks like Gateway quietly released a budget widescreen 15.4 inch laptop that is also in pink. The Gateway M-735u retails for only $549.99 and has decent specs for a Gateway. It has an Intel 2.0 Ghz T4200 Mobile processor, 4GB of DDR2, HD Audio, built in Wi-Fi, and ultrabright WXGA display. The major selling point for me is the size of the hard drive which is a 320GB SATA!! It may only be a 5400RPM but what budget or non-budget laptop comes with that large of a hard drive without having to pay extra for it. Pink is certainly abundant on this laptop, which has the color on the shell ...

Sony Offers Up Mother’s Day Specials for the Cyber-Shot and Vaio CS

Every holiday seems to be an excuse to market to the consumer this year, even Flag Day means marketing flags for all the world! So it's no surprise that everyone is pulling out all the stops for Mother's Day this year, especially since retailers are hurting so much. Sony has come up with some creative bundles aimed at moms. These bundles are stereotypically pink in orientation but they are high tech too. One such bundle is the Cyber-shot S980BDL in pink. It comes with a 12.1 megapixel camera with a 2.7" LCD display and 4x Optical zoom, just to name a few features. It is ...

HP Vivienne Tam Edition Makes its way in to the Macy’s Flower Show

If you happen to be in New York City, stop on by and check out the Macy's Flower Show exhibit. Personally, I'm not one for checking out flowers. However this year if you check out the exhibit you may find something familiar stuck in one of the arrangements - the Vivienne Tam HP digital clutch. Stuck amongst Asian themed flowers, the Vivienne Tam was chosen to be a digital representation of flowers based on its design. The HP Mini Vivienne Tam Special Edition will be featured in lush garden displays accenting the notebook’s design at Macy’s Herald Square in New York (2nd Floor). If you can't make it ...

The BookEndz Docking Station has added to their line new models that are now compatible with the 13" Unibody Apple MacBook  and 15" MacBook Pro both released late last year. For those who may not be familiar with these docking stations, they allow for extra ports by replicating the exact ports of the MacBook laptop which then routes to the back of the docking station. Some of the ports included are: 5 USB 2.0 ports, Audio In, Microphone in, and Headphone out. The only thing the dock will not do is provide power to the laptop. You are on your own with that, but an AC/DC adapter is included to ...

Kensington’s Power Adapter for Netbooks Also Charges USB Gadgets

Losing or leaving behind a power adapter is something that I've done regularly. So usually what I do when I get a new laptop is to buy a spare adapter for emergencies, as well as for convenience, so that i can leave one in the office and one at home. Kensington has a new petite Power Adapter designed especially for Netbooks. The adapter is compatible with Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, LG, Lenovo, MSI and Samsung netbooks, which covers all the big guns. But aside from powering your netbook, it also has a USB port for powering your cell phone or MP3 player. The adapter also features over-current protection, short-circuit ...

Speck AftPack Backpack and TuckPack Sleeve Review

Until now Speck has been mostly known for its various cases, either the See Thru hard shell for the Apple line of Macbooks and iMac, or a variety of different types cases for the iPhone and iPod. So I guess it was only a natural progression for them to dip their fingers in to the backpacks and notebook sleeve arena. Earlier this year at CES we reported about Speck making this leap. So what could Speck do that a million other companies have tried before and yet manage to still be different?  Well the first thing would be provide the consumer with superior quality as well as a ...

Vivienne Tam’s Fall 2009 Collection Preview – Updated

We might not be a fashion blog, but we enjoyed attending Vivienne Tam's (Fashion Week) Fall 2009 Collection Preview tonight in New York. So what was Chip Chick doing at a fashion show you ask? HP brought together a group of women bloggers (and some guys too!) to come and experience Vivienne's signature style in person. HP's Vivienne Tam Edition Netbook is a monumental step in the right direction for gadgets that appeal to women without being patronizing.  Sure, it's pricey for a netbook, but this netbook is about fashion and many women do care very much about fashion and style. Anyway, Vivienne's new collection is beautiful, but for us, the techiest aspect of the show was HP Touchsmart computers that were lined up against the wall - so that you could optionally be blogging on the spot. Was anyone actually blogging on them? No. But we gotta give them credit for the idea, it's the thought that counts after all.

Matt & Nat’s Chic Laptop Bags Are Made From Recycled Bottles

Matt & Nat has been designing Eco Friendly vegan bags for years, and their latest include a few super hip laptop bags. These new laptop bags have a unique and unusually trendy look for a laptop bag. However, we can't help but notice that they do have somewhat of a Diesel-like aesthetic  - but that is a good thing. Anyway, depending on the size, 15-55 recycled plastic bottles go into the material used to make the bags. No leather is ever used either. Their new laptop bags retail for around $300 and are available at their website, as well as Fred Segal, Holt Renfrew and in some dept stores like Nordstroms, Neiman Marcus, Saks and Bloomingdales.

$169 Alpha 400 MIPS Netbook Puts the OLPC to Shame

We saw a ton of super cheap netbooks at CES and now they are slowly but surely creeping into stores. Geeks.com has the Alpha 400 MIPS Netbook for only $169.99. Yes, the specs are a bit meager: 400 MHZ, 128MB ram, Linux OS, and 1GB of flash storage. But for this price what do you expect? The 7 inch screen size is half decent and it comes with an office assistant program that is very barebones. Because you know MS Office is never going to be able to run on this thing. This netbook has also got nothing on the likes of the other more expensive notebooks running Atom ...

Notebook Cooling Desk with Stereo Speakers Makes Sense

JustCooler's Notebook Cooling Desk really is just cooler than other cooling pads. For starters it doubles as a convenient desk / tray for your laptop. Also, it has an integrated 2.1 stereo system - which is something we've never seen before in a cooling pad, even though this is one of the more logical places to throw in a pair of speakers. The desk is also foldable for easy storage, it features two ultra-silent cooling fans, and it has buttons you can use to control speaker volume and muting. Unfortunately, there is no word on piricng and availability yet.
