The BookEndz Docking Station has added to their line new models that are now compatible with the 13" Unibody Apple MacBook and 15" MacBook Pro both released late last year. For those who may not be familiar with these docking stations, they allow for extra ports by replicating the exact ports of the MacBook laptop which then routes to the back of the docking station. Some of the ports included are: 5 USB 2.0 ports, Audio In, Microphone in, and Headphone out. The only thing the dock will not do is provide power to the laptop. You are on your own with that, but an AC/DC adapter is included to ...
Losing or leaving behind a power adapter is something that I've done regularly. So usually what I do when I get a new laptop is to buy a spare adapter for emergencies, as well as for convenience, so that i can leave one in the office and one at home. Kensington has a new petite Power Adapter designed especially for Netbooks. The adapter is compatible with Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, LG, Lenovo, MSI and Samsung netbooks, which covers all the big guns. But aside from powering your netbook, it also has a USB port for powering your cell phone or MP3 player. The adapter also features over-current protection, short-circuit ...
Until now Speck has been mostly known for its various cases, either the See Thru hard shell for the Apple line of Macbooks and iMac, or a variety of different types cases for the iPhone and iPod. So I guess it was only a natural progression for them to dip their fingers in to the backpacks and notebook sleeve arena. Earlier this year at CES we reported about Speck making this leap. So what could Speck do that a million other companies have tried before and yet manage to still be different? Well the first thing would be provide the consumer with superior quality as well as a ...

My friends have challenged each other to this accomplishment before - it's called 'No Screens Day'. Where you are not to use anything with a screen including TV, cell phones, computers, etc. We encourage one another to journal (the old skool blog) about the day - what they experienced, what they were aware of, how they were feeling. Some friends have done a plog (paper blog - you ...
Remember all those manila envelop Macbook Air cases that started showing up after the Macbook Air was first announced? Maybe you even wanted one of those envelop cases for your own laptop, but unless you have the Macbook Air - your laptop wouldn't fit in to one of those cases. Instead, you can now consider getting the "INTER-DEPARTMENTAL MAIL" Computer Sleeve from Kena Kai, which is the next best thing. Although not yellow like a traditional colored manila envelope, this white envelope sleeve is made of Italian leather with an embossed leather design. The case will fit most 13.3" or smaller laptops and retails for $79.99.

There is a new super cheap netbook in town and we might never heard of the company behind it, but the $199 price tag for the Fidelity Netbook VPC sure sounds like it will make us forget any qualms we would otherwise have. The 1.5lb netbook features wifi, onboard USB and ethernet ports, an SD reader, a 7" TFT display with a 800x480 resolution, 2GB of internal storage, and what looks like to be a 100mhz processor. It's obviously running linux with preloaded programs that include a internet browser, spreadsheet, word processor, a media player for movies, music and pictures, e-book reader, dictionary, calendar, PDF reader, email, chat, calculator, ...
We might not be a fashion blog, but we enjoyed attending Vivienne Tam's (Fashion Week) Fall 2009 Collection Preview tonight in New York. So what was Chip Chick doing at a fashion show you ask? HP brought together a group of women bloggers (and some guys too!) to come and experience Vivienne's signature style in person. HP's Vivienne Tam Edition Netbook is a monumental step in the right direction for gadgets that appeal to women without being patronizing. Sure, it's pricey for a netbook, but this netbook is about fashion and many women do care very much about fashion and style. Anyway, Vivienne's new collection is beautiful, but for us, the techiest aspect of the show was HP Touchsmart computers that were lined up against the wall - so that you could optionally be blogging on the spot. Was anyone actually blogging on them? No. But we gotta give them credit for the idea, it's the thought that counts after all.
Available in white, black, pink, blue, green or orange, Uniea's Haptique for the new MacBook Aluminum, is a hardshell case made of ABS plastic with soft touch coating that has a textured feel. The case also sports an soft interior to protect the surface of your MacBook from scratches while also providing opening for access to all the ports and ventilation holes to keep your laptop running cool. The Haptique's surface is also described as having a leather-like pattern.
Matt & Nat has been designing Eco Friendly vegan bags for years, and their latest include a few super hip laptop bags. These new laptop bags have a unique and unusually trendy look for a laptop bag. However, we can't help but notice that they do have somewhat of a Diesel-like aesthetic - but that is a good thing. Anyway, depending on the size, 15-55 recycled plastic bottles go into the material used to make the bags. No leather is ever used either. Their new laptop bags retail for around $300 and are available at their website, as well as Fred Segal, Holt Renfrew and in some dept stores like Nordstroms, Neiman Marcus, Saks and Bloomingdales.
The Zenstation Go PowerTrio Ultra Elite is the type of monitor setup a designer would drool over. It boasts a 30" central screen with a 2560x1600 resolution. The total size including screen area is 53.2" and the best part, it is all powered by your laptop. Just pop in the the Zenstation Go graphics modular into to your express card slot and you'll have this beauty up in running in no time. No crazy wiring needed for anything else. Just one simple cable from your laptop to your Zenstation Go. The price is a bit outrageous - $4299.00 for a such a system. So you'll have to really love ...
We saw a ton of super cheap netbooks at CES and now they are slowly but surely creeping into stores. Geeks.com has the Alpha 400 MIPS Netbook for only $169.99. Yes, the specs are a bit meager: 400 MHZ, 128MB ram, Linux OS, and 1GB of flash storage. But for this price what do you expect? The 7 inch screen size is half decent and it comes with an office assistant program that is very barebones. Because you know MS Office is never going to be able to run on this thing. This netbook has also got nothing on the likes of the other more expensive notebooks running Atom ...
JustCooler's Notebook Cooling Desk really is just cooler than other cooling pads. For starters it doubles as a convenient desk / tray for your laptop. Also, it has an integrated 2.1 stereo system - which is something we've never seen before in a cooling pad, even though this is one of the more logical places to throw in a pair of speakers. The desk is also foldable for easy storage, it features two ultra-silent cooling fans, and it has buttons you can use to control speaker volume and muting. Unfortunately, there is no word on piricng and availability yet.
Probably some of the nicest Netbooks you will ever see ( and we saw plenty this CES!!), the Athena Art PC is the only unique Netbook out there (besides the HP Vivienne Tam model) to fuse both stylish design and portability. The Art PC features a 1.6 Ghz Atom Intel Processor, 8.9 inch LCD screen, and expandable memory up to 2GB. Another nice feature is that you can have up to a 500GB hard drive in this Netbook, which is extremely rare for this size machine. However, technical aspects aside, the lid of these laptop are really the selling point. The designs
The Limited-edition LifeBook U820 tokidoki-branded mini notebook is the kind of gadget we're used to seeing only show up in the far east. Fortunately, this pretty little 1.32 pound netbook will actually make it's way here. The Limited-edition LifeBook U820 tokidoki-branded mini notebook has a a 5.6-inch WXGA touch screen, integrated Garmin Mobile(R) GPS navigation, it's WiMAX enabled, it offers keyboard, touch or pen input, it can be configured with a 120GB hard drive or a 64gb solid state hard drive, it's got a 1.3 megapixel camera, a fingerprint sensor and it's running on the Intel Atom pprocessor and Vista. The base config for the laptop is $1,124.
We've been ogling the HP Vivienne Tam Edition Series from the moment it was announced. Compact design + Truly Fashionable looks? That's just our speed. But we're not totally superficial, and when it comes to ultraportables we want them to have substance too. Now that the HP Vivienne Tam Edition has arrived on our doorstep, we've finally gotten the opportunity to see if this netbook is all it's cracked up to be.
First off, here is a little background about my personal experience with the netbooks phenomena. Previously I owned a HP Mini 2133, which was one of the first netbooks on the market after the Eee PC arrived. I ...
CoolWave from Targus is an economical way of circulating air around your laptop without having to worry about it overheating. This fun and pretty stylish looking laptop stand will support laptops up to 17" and will also hold your computer power cord in place. The best part about all this is that the blueish color of the CoolWave make it look like your laptop it's truly taking a dip in the ocean. It will be available soon and retail for $19.99
There are many laptop desks / trays out there. We've seen ones decorated in all sorts of colors and designs, but how many of them have been green? The Bamboo Lap Table from Natural High Lifestyle is made up of a "hemp/organic cotton canvas sack filled with buckwheat hulls, and topped with a durable sheet of sustainable 3/4 inch bamboo plywood." The sack also molds to your legs and is available in the colors monk (brown), pearl (white) and eclipse (black). The Bamboo Lap Table retails for $98.00, which is certainly more costly than your average laptop tray, but how many laptop trays would a Panda like to eat ...
Brunton offers a up an ecologically bright idea that seems just so obvious - Roll-up portable solar panels called SolarRolls. Depending on the type of gadget you are looking to power via the sunlight, you can order a customized SolarRoll that will juice your electronics and bring them back to life. There is no need for a car charger or even an electrical outlet. If you are the hiking or camping type but still like to be a little connected to the outside world, then this certainly will come in handy. The SolarRoll 14 is probably the handiest roll - it's even able to power laptops. Camping will never ...
Ed Hardy continues to brand and market itself on just about anything these days. Earlier in the week we mentioned that they slammed their Ed Hardy branding and designs on remote controlled toys. Now we find they have gone into making rhinestone decals and cases for laptops and cellphones. Honestly the laptop skins are stunning, especially the newest mermaid design. For those who want to make their conservative Blackberry look more hip, then putting on this case certainly helps. But as always, being hip and trendy doesn't come cheap. The laptop rhinestone decals will set you back $248 dollars. However, the cellphone/iPhone 3G/Blackberry cases range from $26 ...
