I’ve mentioned this before – but my latest obsession seems to be with Auggie on the show Covert Affairs and the gadgets that he uses. There hasn’t been really anything super outstanding as of late. But one thing that has changed seems to be Auggie’s headset that he uses in the office. In the first two episodes he was sporting a pair of headphones with wooden earcups that is from Grado called the RS2i. However more recently, the production budget must have gotten approved to be bit higher, and now Auggie is sporting what appears to be a pair of Bang and Olufsen EarSet 1 Mobile earphones. I guess these do look more CIA authorized because of its sleek design. Who knows what he will be sporting next, I’m looking forward to seeing Annie eventually play with some neato gadgets instead of just showing off her awesome driving skills.

SS350 214x300 Bionic Commando XBox 360 Review" width="156" height="219" />Based on the original Bionic Commando from Nintendo, Capcom decided to bring it back and give it a whirl with updated graphics and game play. Well they should have left it alone. The story starts with Nathan Spencer, the Bionic Commando being brought back into action by the same force that imprisoned him after he led the bionic commandos to victory 10 years earlier. The game is pretty mediocre at best. The pace of the game is pretty steady and fast. The best part was the awesome one liners when you killed someone such as “Kick A$$ or “I Would hate to be that guy”, very amusing for a horrible game. The worst is the extra long tutorial they put in which is helpful but very drawn out.

The controls are OK, some maneuvers need a little bit to get used to. To get around, it is easily all controlled by the D-Pad with a jump action and your right thumb stick to move your view. You can also get around by swinging with a built in hook from your bionic arm, which is rather difficult. First you must aim and make sure the surface is able to be hooked, then you line up and fire your hook, from here you can either pull yourself right to the structure or grapple your way to a roof. You can also use it to swing from a light post to a monorail, the possibilities are limitless but when you have 5 or 6 guys hunting you down and shooting at you, trying to fiddle with this when you only have mere seconds to move can be challenging to say the least.

The weapons are pretty good, anything from your classic 9mm to a shot gun, You can only carry 48 rounds at a time on most weapons so if you are a trigger happy shooter type, I would seek out a cheat code for unlimited ammo and weapons. To aim you will see your circle target light up red when you are on target otherwise it will be white. You can zoom in by pressing your right thumb stick in. This would be a great feature for some other shooter games to put into play.

The graphics are decent during the game, similar to looks of the recent Capcom game, Resident Evil. One thing that I did not find to be helpful is in areas of radiation, lighting seemed to be an issue. Areas affected by radiation are defined by a glowing blue color, these are areas you should not venture into, you will die within a few seconds. However due to the lighting, it is hard to actually tell which is a contaminated area, from above it is much easier to tell, but that does not help you when you are on the move on the ground. To get around there is no map, just your immediate target area is highlighted in the corner of the screen. You need to keep following your relays to stay on path. This was ok, but I still would prefer a full map feature. It is difficult when you are completely lost and cannot figure out how to get around buildings and radiation.

Sometimes classic games shouldn’t be messed with and even though it lacked the fancy schmancy graphics of this latest version. I still enjoyed the retro Bionic Commando much more. For those who are to young to remember the classic version, probably will enjoy this even with the frustrating movements of the bionic arm, those who remember the good ole’ days will probably not appreciate the remake. Bionic Commando retails for $39.79.

Good: As always Capcom doesn’t let us down with awesome graphics and a decent storyline.

Bad: Controls could be frustrating. Bionic arm was more of a pain than it was worth trying to get it to work, before getting killed.

It retails for $145 and if you are going to the SDCC, you can get your hands on one in person. It will totally prep you for the movie which could never do the cartoon any justice.

A new day, a new really expensive Ipod case. The Louis Vuitton Classic Ipod Cover by Takashi Murakami has a monogram multicolor canvas with peach natural calf leather lining and golden brass pieces. It also has a flap closure with press studs, and a ring for a shoulder strap and belt loop on the back. There is no price for this case listed on the Louis Vuitton web site, but the last Louis Vuitton Ipod Case we spotted retailed for $285, so chances are that this one will cost about as much as an actual Ipod as well.

Simpletech’s Napster MusicVault is just a run-of-the-mill USB 2.0 external hard drive, except for the fact that it has the Napster logo emblazoned on its side. Along with the logo, the MusicVault also comes with two free months of Napster and 5 free songs – a $34 value. So why is this thing called a “MusicVault”? The sales pitch is that you can store your whole music collection on it. But other then the Napster branding and $34 gift, there is nothing special about this hard drive, so really the name is just a gimmick to sway you to choose their hard drive over the onslaught of other external hard drives out there.
Atleast the pricing is affordable; it comes in 3 different capacities – 160GB for $130, 250GB for $189, and 400GB for $344. (Source: PC Magazine, February 7, 2006)
There are only about a zillion ipod and cell phone cases out there, yet when it comes to dressing our digital cameras there seems to be a very slim selection. That is why I got excited when I saw an ad for Conico’s digital camera cases. They have a large variety of different style cases that are made special to fit popular models. For example, their Stunner DB7-T7-S is a silicon case that fits the Sony DSC-T7. Its available in orange, lime, white, aqua green, or grey and it retails for £14.95 ($26 USD). Their Re-ignite series also has some funky designs, including the B & M-i750-R that is made of leather and has a british flag motif running around it. It’s made to fit the Canon IXUS 750 and retails for £29.95 ($52 USD). There are a lot of other funky cases on their site, so check’em out!

Amoi mobile phones are almost non existant on this continent, so all we can do is gawk at some of their phone’s uber girly designs from afar. Ok, well maybe gawk isn’t the word. Personally, butterflies don’t do it for me, but many gals would love Amoi’s F6. Under the hood the F6 is a sublimely standard flip phone with a 1.5 inch 65k color display on the inside and a 1 inch 4k color display on the outside. It supports polyphonic ringtones, MMS, and GPRS. Yeh… no camera, no mp3 player, no special tricks. However, if you care more about style over substance and you love pink, then you will love the F6.

We survived the first day of C.E.S. … just barely. Finding companies with products geared towards women is an incredible task at such a large show, but we’re very happy with some of the stuff we’ve discovered. Unfortunately only 2 members of the team are here at C.E.S and we only have one laptop (Yeh, I know!). Everywhere we go we are encountering exciting new technologies, gadgets, and accessories – and we are determined to get them all to you, especially the ones that you won’t find on other sites. So please be patient with us… we haven’t forgotten you! Now if someone could point us in the direction of an Easy Spirit store…

The bag will retail for $9.99, and it will come in a male version in black and blue and a female version in white and pink.

The iPod’s touchpad is a pleasure to use unless you’re outside in cold
weather, which almost always requires taking off your gloves each time
you want to adjust the volume or browse through tracks. These special
gloves from Tavo save you from that tedious task. The thumb and index finger tips are made of nylon
strands coated with silver alloy which allow you to work any touchpad
with no problem. The gloves retail for $35. And if you have the iPod Nano, with the way it scratches so easily, you might want to keep these gloves on even when it’s not cold.

Caravan is one of New York City’s hottest new boutiques, and probably the most unusual of all of them because it’s actually a whole shop on wheels. The only way to track down Caravan is by getting real-time GPS coordinates from its web site. Inside Caravan’s 240 foots Winnebago is clothing and art for sale, a GPS transmitter, a plasma screen, a wireless credit card processing unit, and a system that has receipts emailed to customers. (Source: Wired Magazine, January 2006)
Could there be a future for more shops on wheels like Caravan? Online shopping is great because you can shop from home, but shopping for certain products can be aggravating – especially when it comes to clothing which you usually need to try on first. But what if one day you had the whole store actually come to you? You heard it here first.
A sneaker that breathes? Geox Respira is a line of sneakers that has a special NET system which increases the breathability of the shoes. "Perspiration and humidity are gradually expelled by the membrane through the net, but at the same time, water, mud and all external elements are unable to penetrate inside the shoe, thus keeping the foot healthy, under hygienically perfect conditions." Basically it sounds like these would be perfect for athletic types. But best part of all is that these sneakers come in several colors including pink!

Mobile Chaos’s line of M-Couture cases includes a selection of different stylish designs that should satisfy many different tastes. The Sparkle Packs come with silver or pink studs, have an attached belt clip, and fit most flip phones with or without an antennae. These faux diamond-studded cell phone cases are a great alternative to actually sticking fake jewels onto your cell phone. Amongst the Chip Chick Team, the sparkle packs proved to be the most popular. The studded pack case is more suitable for larger phones. It comes in silver and pink, and also comes included with a wrist strap. The Zoo Pack case is probably more suitable for the girl who likes to stand out of the crowd…it comes with a faux fur Zebra or Leopard print, a wrist strap, and it’s big enough to fit most phones.
Finally, the PM Case has a classy rhinestone studded motif running along side its front. It unzips to reveal room for a PDA, Cell Phone or Mp3 Player as well as room for credit cards, and cash, and it comes with a shoulder strap. It’s great for slipping into a purse, or you could wear it alone when you’re out on the town and just want to carry one of your gadgets and some cash without added bulk. Overall, this line of cases from Mobile Chaos make some great stocking stuffers for the lady in your life that appreciates a little flair.

We had one of our chip chicks use two of the M-Couture cases for a week, and these were her thoughts…
If
you wanna spice up your wardrobe with a few rhinestones or studs
without buying a holiday sweater, Mcouture cell phone cases by Mobile
Chaos are a good way to go. I tried two cases – one black with clear
rhinestones and a magnetic closure (a Sparkle Pack), the other a
metallic pinkish case with a snap closure and a detachable strap (a
Studded Pack). My Samsung MM-A880 phone fit in both cases nicely but
the metallic one was cuter and almost matched my phone. I felt like a
character in Clueless as I carried the adorable case around by the
strap. For a look that was a little less Cher and Di, and to limit the
number of things I had to carry, I clipped the case to the strap of my
handbag. These cases are perfect for those of us who have cute phones
and don’t want some bulky black case covering it up. These cases don’t
become part of your phone -you take your phone in and out of them.
Pretty
Countless companies have tried to one up Apple with a Shuffle competitor -
(i.e. Dell’s DJ
Ditty, Samsung’s YP-U1X.)
Here is another one to add to the list – RCA ‘s Lyra M1001GB is a 1 gig flash
mp3 player with a LCD display, a direct USB connection with a sliding door, it
supports MP3, WMA and WMA DRM files, comes with a neckstrap, and has a rechargeable battery. In
Amazon.com’s holiday print circular, it has the Lyra M1001GB pictured with a
price of $113.99, which definitely seems like good value for 1gb flash player, especially one with a LCD. However, on
their web site there is no price or picture on the Lyra’s product
page… which is odd. Fortunately J & R has these in stock for $109.99, they also have a 512mb version in blue for $79.99, and a 256mb version in red for $59.99.

The Skullcandy Audio LINK Pack has a neat snowboarder aesthetic, but aside from it’s good-looks it also has an out-of-the-ordinary feature for a
knapsack; it includes a built-in system that allows you to listen to your music
player and take calls on your cell phone through the bag itself. The bag also
has an amplifier powered by double-A batteries, 60-mm speakers, a headphone
jack, audio controls on the shoulder straps, and it also has special pockets for
glasses, a cell phone, mp3 player, and CD/DVD sleeves. There is also plenty of
room for a laptop inside the Audio LINK Pack, but you’ll need a laptop sleeve to
make sure your laptop is well protected. Skullcandy’s Audio LINK Pack retails
for $169.95 and comes in black and white. PC Magazine reviewed the bag and gave
it a promising 4 out of 5 stars. (Source: PC Magazine, December 27,

There are several speaker systems out there that are designed especially to use with the iPod, but the iTower makes them all look cheap and paltry in comparison. At 42 inches tall and 9 inches wide, the iTower is sleek and shiny. The iPod is made to sit at the top of the iTower like a king on his throne. Below the iPod’s cradle are four aluminium cone speakers with a subwoofer built into the base. The iTower even comes with a wireless remote control.

Inside the iTower is an 18-inch retractable ZipConnect cable designed to hook up to your iPod’s docking station, and there are a variety of ‘made for iPod’ ZipConnect cables available for compatibality with every kind of iPod. Alternatively, you can use a standard cable that will allow you to play any MP3 player in the iTower via the headphone jack. The iTower retails for $199.95 at the Sharper Image, but if you choose to buy more then one, then each additional speaker costs $99.95. station for your laptop and all your gadgets. It also stores your laptop and
electronics while charging them. Flip it up and all your stuff is hidden out of
sight. Flip it down and you have an instant desk. The customizable fabric covered
back panel also serves as a bulletin board for notes and photos. The eNook comes in pine or cherry wood, and white.
The eNook is a great space saving solution and
it looks like it’ll be especially welcome in dorms and Manhattan apartments. It retails for $399, and the optional accessory shelf to hold your gadgets costs $29 extra.
