Well this horrible looking Golden Ox webcam should do the trick. The calf looks more like the devil with its head stuck on what looks like an antenna of a car, or analog TV. The Golden OX Webcam works via USB and has a built-in mic. It features automatic white balance, manual focus, and a frame rate of 320 X 240 up to 30 frame/sec. You can pick up the almost Biblical Golden OX Figure Webcam for $16.69.

T-mobile MyTouch 3G users rejoice! With a simple download from the Marketplace, you’ll now be able to enjoy Visual Voicemail just like all of those AT&T iPhone users do. Once you’ve downloaded and installed the file, all you have to do is run the app and after a few minutes of configuring it goes to work displaying all the voicemail in your mailbox. Take a look at the shots below for the full U.I.

SS350 214x300 Bionic Commando XBox 360 Review" width="156" height="219" />Based on the original Bionic Commando from Nintendo, Capcom decided to bring it back and give it a whirl with updated graphics and game play. Well they should have left it alone. The story starts with Nathan Spencer, the Bionic Commando being brought back into action by the same force that imprisoned him after he led the bionic commandos to victory 10 years earlier. The game is pretty mediocre at best. The pace of the game is pretty steady and fast. The best part was the awesome one liners when you killed someone such as “Kick A$$ or “I Would hate to be that guy”, very amusing for a horrible game. The worst is the extra long tutorial they put in which is helpful but very drawn out.

The controls are OK, some maneuvers need a little bit to get used to. To get around, it is easily all controlled by the D-Pad with a jump action and your right thumb stick to move your view. You can also get around by swinging with a built in hook from your bionic arm, which is rather difficult. First you must aim and make sure the surface is able to be hooked, then you line up and fire your hook, from here you can either pull yourself right to the structure or grapple your way to a roof. You can also use it to swing from a light post to a monorail, the possibilities are limitless but when you have 5 or 6 guys hunting you down and shooting at you, trying to fiddle with this when you only have mere seconds to move can be challenging to say the least.

The weapons are pretty good, anything from your classic 9mm to a shot gun, You can only carry 48 rounds at a time on most weapons so if you are a trigger happy shooter type, I would seek out a cheat code for unlimited ammo and weapons. To aim you will see your circle target light up red when you are on target otherwise it will be white. You can zoom in by pressing your right thumb stick in. This would be a great feature for some other shooter games to put into play.

The graphics are decent during the game, similar to looks of the recent Capcom game, Resident Evil. One thing that I did not find to be helpful is in areas of radiation, lighting seemed to be an issue. Areas affected by radiation are defined by a glowing blue color, these are areas you should not venture into, you will die within a few seconds. However due to the lighting, it is hard to actually tell which is a contaminated area, from above it is much easier to tell, but that does not help you when you are on the move on the ground. To get around there is no map, just your immediate target area is highlighted in the corner of the screen. You need to keep following your relays to stay on path. This was ok, but I still would prefer a full map feature. It is difficult when you are completely lost and cannot figure out how to get around buildings and radiation.

Sometimes classic games shouldn’t be messed with and even though it lacked the fancy schmancy graphics of this latest version. I still enjoyed the retro Bionic Commando much more. For those who are to young to remember the classic version, probably will enjoy this even with the frustrating movements of the bionic arm, those who remember the good ole’ days will probably not appreciate the remake. Bionic Commando retails for $39.79.

Good: As always Capcom doesn’t let us down with awesome graphics and a decent storyline.

Bad: Controls could be frustrating. Bionic arm was more of a pain than it was worth trying to get it to work, before getting killed.

No design is really out of the box and they basically do all the same things, the main differences between any of them would be switchable frame plates, larger internal memory, or the ability to also play MP3s. So it was nice to get a chance to review the GE PhotoPhone which is an all in one wireless landline phone and a digital picture frame. This makes the PhotoPhone unique and actually useful, instead of having a plain old digital frame hanging around that you’ll tire of uploading photos too eventually.

Setup:
For anyone who has a digital picture frame, most of them don’t require much brainpower and neither does this one. The only difference here though is that you have to setup the telephone part as well. Included in the box is the frame with a telephone base attached to it. There is also a wireless handset, battery cover/backplate for the handset, a black frame, telephone cord, AC Adapter, metal stand, and manual. We snapped the included battery in place for the handset and then proceeded to slide the battery cover/backplate onto the handset. Holding the phone in our hands, we weren’t that impressed. The buttons feel and look very rubbery and the handset feels a bit on the cheap side – almost like a toy phone.

We set the frame up at first with just the silver frame. We plugged the telephone cable into the appropriate jack on the back of the frame and then the AC Adapter to power it all up. Once you plug in the power, the screen which was once black goes live and the telephone begins to charge, which is indicated with a green charging light on the frame. It was time now to make a phone call and put some images on this frame.

Handset:
The design of the PhotoPhone is very sleek and minimalist and it can easily blend in with any office or home setting. The fact that it includes a silver and black frame makes it easy to color coordinate to any type of furniture or setting. The first thing we did was try and make a phone call and as expected the handset was less than desired….It was difficult to press the buttons to make an actual call! If you have long nails it will definitely help in this situation. Once we placed the call the reception was clear and no different than the current Vtech handset I currently am using. The PhotoPhone emphasizes the fact that it features DECT 6.0 interference free technology. I made a call near speakers and near other cellphones as well as my computer and there was no feedback or hissing noise from the handset or any irritating echos. The calls were clear and the volume could be adjusted pretty high if you have difficulty hearing.

However the handset is very plain, besides the buttons the screen is very simple with only a monochrome/green and black display and no other options for different colors or ring tones. There isn’t even a speakerphone function! The only function from the base is to ‘page’ the phone in case you misplaced it. There is no ability to answer the phone directly from the base except for picking up the handset. Caller ID, Speed Dial, Number Storage, and Call waiting, and the ability to set the date/time are available on the handset. These are common features of any generic digital phone these days. So I guess that pushes the handset itself to the late 90s.

Digital Frame:
Moving away from the handset, the picture frame comes preloaded with a few sample images on its 32MB of internal memory. So we got a chance to right-away see some bright images on the 7″ screen size before we even loaded our own on to it. The colors were impressive for a digital picture frame and it transitioned the other photos smoothly. The PhotoPhone has a built in card slot that supports XD, SD, and Micro SD Cards with an adapter. The same can be said with memory sticks, they will need an adapter as well to be able to use with this frame too. However the biggest capacity the frame will read is 2GB. When we first inserted our 2GB Ritek memory card the frame seemed to choke and then fade away. It didn’t like this card at all! We tried it again by taking out the card and removing the power to the frame then restarting it, when the card was inserted again it did the same thing again. The frame froze and the screen became full of lines and looked like a video card gone bad. So I restarted the frame once again and decided to use a Sandisk memory card and the PhotoPhone seemed to like that one better. It didn’t choke and immediately picked up the card. So I began the importing of pictures, the menu system is pretty simple and you can import up to 32MB of pics to the internal memory card. The frame will read directly from your memory cards and create a slideshow from it as well. However, the image you choose for the Picture Caller ID must be saved onto the internal memory of the PhotoPhone. We pulled as many images as we could on the frame and it began its slide show rotation. There is no special transition settings just simple fade in – fade out to the next photo. The speed can be increased and shuffle are the only options available.

Now together:
The nice feature and what really makes the frame special is the ability to receive a call and set an image for that caller. It’s Caller ID with a photo on your digital photo frame. The phone number shows up along the bottom of the frame and the image you selected for that person shows up as your phone rings. When you dial out, the number dialed displays on the frame as well and when you are talking, the slide show will resume. So you can really scream at that person’s face if their image comes across the frame while talking on the handset.

Conclusion:
The PhotoPhone has a lot of potential to be a really unique digital picture frame combined a telephone. However, there are too many drawbacks to substantiate the price of $99.99 such as the lack of speakerphone, cheap quality handset, and only 32MB of internal memory. Maybe with the next generation of this model GE can fix some of these issues. To its credit the picture quality on the frame is good and the menu system is pretty to easy to use, easy enough to give this as a gift to let’s say the grandparents. The Picture Caller ID is one of the only features I truly liked, now only if the rest of it would come up to speed. Oh, and another cherry, you can expand the PhotoPhone up to 4 wireless handsets….

The Good: Picture Caller ID feature is very neat, Picture quality is above par, like the convenience of having phone and picture frame in one device, nice minimalistic and modern design, very good call quality

The Bad: Cheap looking wireless handset with monochrome display, no speakerphone, seems not to like the taste of certain brands of memory cards..
But best part of all is that these sneakers come in several colors including pink!

VOIP services like Skype and Gizmo are all the rage nowadays. Don’t get
me wrong, I love VOIP technology, but in some ways I’m an old-fashioned girl – I
prefer using a land line handset when having a conversation, as opposed to
speaking into the mic on my computer. Yes, there are VOIP phone-like handsets
out there that connect to your computer, but who needs another handset on your
desk. It just becomes too confusing and cluttered having a landline headset, a
VOIP handset and probably a cell phone handset as well. When the phone
rings, you’d probaly get all confused and think “Which one is ringing now,
argh!”

The uConnect VOIP Converter is a nifty little device that bridges the
gap between land line and VOIP on your computer by enabling you to use
your VOIP service with any regular handset you already have – even if
it is cordless. Once you’ve set up the uConnect VOIP converter, your
phone will work just as it always did, but pressing the * key twice wil
immediately activate Skype.
So essentially the uConnect VOIP Converter brings together the best of both worlds – analog phone service
and digital VOIP – right to the same handset. The uConnect VoIP Converter
retails for £34.95 ($60.00 USD) and as a bonus it currently comes with a 30
minute SkypeOut voucher and 2 months of Skype Voicemail.

It’s not uncommon for people to wear their mp3 players like a necklace, the shuffle and the Ipod Nano both have accessories which essentially turn them into a wearable device. Here is an Mp3 Player that actually comes as a necklace straight out of the box. The YO-DK has a 1.1 inch OLED 65K color display with an integrated touch-sensor, it supports MP3 and WMA audio files, videos in MTV format, JPEG pictures, voice recording, and it’s available in capacities of 128mb through 1gb. Unfortunately it has a meager battery life of 8 hours. On the bright side, it seems to be tiny so it won’t strain your neck when you wear it, but being tiny has its drawbacks – a 1.1 inch screen isn’t very enjoyable for watching movies. Then again we will probably never get to see this thing state side anyway.

Tonight, after having unsuccessfully stood in the freezing rain for hours in the hope of acquiring an Xbox 360, there is no doubt that the console will remain on the list of things I want this holiday season.
Much to my chagrin, in the past I have discovered that if I do not provide a gift list for family members, such as my grandmother, I end up receiving odd gifts which I feel guilty for not using. Last year, my family actually used my Amazon.com wishlist, and that was great. But what about things from other online stores? The web is full of great boutique shops and specialty stores not associated with Amazon. That is why TheThingsIWant.com is so helpful. It helps you create multiple lists using any site on the web – anything from a general wishlist to wedding registry and birthday lists.

One of its best features is the "shopping list", which allows you to
shop for yourself and everyone on your list at the same time. You can also control who can and who cannot see your lists.
Overall,
setting up your wishlist at TheThingsIWant.com is sure to make your
online holiday shopping easier, now if only it could score me an Xbox
360.

Forget staring at a screen saver with tropical fish, or even buying real fish to put in a crummy old bowl. Instead check out the AquaVista 500 fish tank/frame. This 26 x 26 inch tank is sort of like a plasma display because it’s only 4 inches thick and hangs on your wall as an “animated” art piece. It comes in your choice of 15 wood or plastic frames. The heaters, lights, aeration, and bumps are controlled from an LCD panel on the side, and a biological filtration system removes debris while naturally oxygenating the water. These tanks from Aqua Vista Inc. retail for $299 USD. (Source: Wired Magazine, November 2005)

Are you the kind of person who strives be unique and always stand out in
a crowd? Maybe you can’t stand buying an Ipod just because everyone else has
one? If so, how about getting yourself an ePod. The E Beyond Epod Portable Media
Player is a video recorder that can hold 1 hours worth of video, plus it takes
digital stills, has an mp3 player with a measly capacity of 128mb, a voice
recorder plus speakers, and it has a SD slot for adding memory. The ePod comes in
red or silver which is nice, and the fact that it can record video is nice as
well, but with just 128mb, at a price of $249.95 who are they kidding? I think
even the strongest non-conformists will agree that the iPod is a better value.
On paper the ePod seems to be missing a lot more than just an i.

is that similarly to Gmail, you need an invite in order to get an account. However, their site has a list of links where you can score an invite. This all sounds too good to be true, so get’em while their hot. At this rate, there will be no reason to Ever go through your email box and delete stuff.

PDA’s are great unless you’re tight on cash (maybe from saving up for the
Xbox 360) in which case, here is a free alternative. The PocketMod web site has a flash
based interface which allows you to create a printable and thus disposable
personal organizer. You can customize your PocketMod with calendars, notes,
shopping lists, and a bunch of other efficient stuff. Once your done creating
your PocketMod, you can print it out and fold it together using the instructions on
the site. What’s great about the PocketMod, other then the fact that it’s Free
and customizeable, is that it’s super light because all it is is just one piece
of paper – no PDA will ever weigh that little. Even better – if you lose your Pocketmod, you
won’t feel too bad.

Wireless carriers already suck away our money with fees and taxes, which is why most of us try to avoid using 411 unless we have too. Turns out, we might not have to worry about paying for directory assistance anymore. Free411.com is offering free 411 services in exchange for listening to an advertisement before being directed to an agent. All you have to do is dial 1-800-Free411, listen to a 10 second ad, and then you will be connected to an operator. And no worries about quality of service, the company claims to use the same directory assistance data from the same sources as phone carriers. So far this all sounds almost to good to be true – listening to a 10 second advertisement is a small price to pay for free 411, I just hope they don’t go out of business or get bought out like so many other novelty free services have in the past. (Anyone remember when College Club offered free voicemail, Onebox offered free fax, voice and e-mail Box services, or Netzero when it really cost Zero?)

Popular Science Magazine has an article explaining how you can be your own hotspot. You’ll need a Junxion Box, EV-DO PCMCIA card, a solar-charging backpack and a few other items in order to get your portable hotspot up and running. This gig will end up costing over the one grand mark, but it’s the only way to get a hotspot connection when you’re in the middle of nowhere – which is exactly why I refuse to ever get stuck in the middle of nowhere.

Browster is an awesome free plug-in for Internet Explorer, and now Firefox as well, which gives you an instant view of a web page just by rolling over a link. So if for example, you search for something in Google or Yahoo, you can rollover the Browster icon next to each result and a preview of that result’s page will instantly popup. Firefox is already a great Internet Explorer alternative, with the addition of Browster it all adds up to be a really great web surfing experience.

Now there is an online support group called “Video Game Widows” where fellow neglected women can vent their frusterations out. Sounds great and all but you gotta keep in mind that sometimes there are girl gamers that neglect their partner as well. Not that I’d ever be guilty of that… (Source: SyncMag)

At first glance the Shinco Portable Media Player might look like any ordinary portable DVD player but it’s not actually a DVD player at all. It’s really just a a portable video player in disquise that has a 40 gig hard drive and a 7 inch TFT screen. It can playback ASF, AVI, Divx, MPEG 1/2/4, JPEG, MP3 and WMA files. Plus, it has a CompactFlash and Secure Digital/mmc Slot, 2 headphone jacks, and a remote control. Unfortunately the battery life isn’t too amazing at just 2.5 hours for video playback and 4 hours for audio playback. The Shinco PMP is available for preorder at Firebox.com for $510 USD.

This year’s E3 has been especially exciting with three new game consoles being revealed – the Xbox 360, Nintendo Revolution & Playstation 3. Well besides the big consoles, a portable gaming player has been announced. The Game Boy Advance Micro will be a reincarnation of the Gameboy Advance SP but will be tinier and lighter. It’ll be about the size of a Ipod Mini and weigh an astonishing 2.8 ounces. The press release from Nintendo also claims that the Game boy Micro will have a removable face plate so that you can change the color and design on your game boy. I’m sure this one will be a hit. (Updated Image is Taken from Engadget )

This past Thursday the next generation Xbox, the Xbox 360, was unveiled on MTV.
It’s got a lot of cool new features which you can check out at 1up.com.
The Xbox developers claim that they designed the Xbox 360 as a console made for
“everyone.” That translates to me that they want to make the Xbox 360 more
female friendly then the original Xbox. So how exactly are they going to do
that? That’s where their plans for customizable faceplates come in. It seems
that they’re going to have all sorts of faceplates for the front facade of the
xbox. Who needs a special edition Hello Kitty Xbox for hundreds of dollars when you can just buy a hello kitty faceplate for your current Xbox. Great idea if you ask me, especially if they make good quality faceplates
that don’t look cheap or too tacky.
