Oberon Design Kindle Fire Cover Review

We previously reviewed Oberon Design’s cover for the iPad 2. The company makes some of the most beautiful customized covers you can find for tablets. Their latest cover series include covers for the Amazon Kindle Fire.

Like with their iPad 2 case, the process of choosing a Kindle Cover begins with you choosing a design for the cover. Oberon offers a large selection of beautiful and very unique engraved leather cover designs. There are all sorts of designs to choose from, ranging from a forest, to Van Gogh, a butterfly, and a wild rose. These designs are works of art, and fortunately, there is something for everyone here. You also get to choose the color of the leather cover, and there too are many colors to choose fro, including red, purple, green, brown, black, and more.

The cover’s leather is a very thick leather which provides ample protection from day to day bumps and shocks. The leather itself has been drum-dyed, meaning that the dye penetrates completely so that it will never scuff white like leather “of lesser quality”. Oberon’s leather is also able to absorb natural oils from your hands. This helps ensure that your cover develops a deep, polished patina as time goes by. But unfortunately, with its thick high quality leather material, the Oberon Design Kindle Fire Cover  comes at a price. And that is that in total the case weighs 7.8oz which adds a bit of heft to your Kindle Fire.

To complete the design, a matching Britannia Pewter button adorns the front cover. A replaceable bungee chord is used to keep the cover closed. The Kindle Fire itself slips into the Cover and stay securely in using corner straps and a top bumper.  Oberon has also included a platform system to use in order for the tablet to be able to rest on its side for watching movies. This does require require a bit of work, but it gets the job done.

Oberon Design’s Kindle Fire Cover retails for $70. That might seem pricey at first, but considering how beautiful, well made and high quality the leather in the cover is – the pricing is more than justified. This is the kind of Amazon Kindle Fire case that is sure to impress. And don’t forget to check out our Amazon Kindle Fire review.
