Pantech’s Splashy Element Tablet is Waterproof and 4G LTE Enabled

Up until now Affordable and Tablet are usually not in the same sentence. Pantech together with AT&T are aiming to change that with the Element, which debuted at CES 2012. At $300 with a two year contract, it is certainly on the lower end of tablets price wise, but not feature wise. It runs on 4G LTE and is pretty quick and smooth as well, with a 1.5 GHz dual core processor. It comes with 16 GB of storage, 1 GB RAM and and additional 32 GB microSD slot. The 8 inch HD screen is beautiful. It also has front and rear facing cameras. Operating on good ol’ Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS, it is completely optimized as far as tablet performance goes.

Waterproof is an alluring option for those with toddlers, who we all know are attracted to spills. Of course, you can’t go scuba diving with this thing. It takes a little forethought and anticipation to make sure ports are closed. As long as they are, it will survive the incidental spill here and there. At least you won’t have to worry as much at the pool.

Available as soon as January 22 at AT&T.
