Mattel is Making Star Trek Barbie Dolls

It’s the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, and everyone wants in on the action. You’d better believe that includes Mattel, which is now showing off three new dolls that are pretty much mandatory purchases for collectors, or for any Star Trek fan, really. Spock, Kirk, and Uhura are all getting their own Barbie dolls, and while we kinda wish that meant we’d get actual Barbie done up like Spock, we’ll definitely take these three, anyway.

But yeah, to be clear, this isn’t Barbie gone Trekkie cosplayer. Instead, Mattel is making dolls in the Barbie style based on the likenesses of ’60s Shatner, Nimoy, and Nichols, and they’re the best. Kirk has a phaser and looks super suave, while Uhura is rocking that green earrings/tricorder accessory combination that really needs to come back in style. Spock? The Vulcan salute, of course! They’ve all got communicators, too, so they can stay in touch while Kirk is planetside probably riding in one of those little Barbie cars. Actually, now that we think about it, can Mattel please make a Barbie-sized Enterprise happen, too?

Get on over to The Barbie Collection ASAP and get your preorders in if you want them. We’re not sure how big the production run is, but these are Silver Label dolls, so it’s for sure fewer than 25,000 each. Each doll can be preordered now for $35, but we’re not yet sure when Mattel is planning to ship them out.
