Armani Now Has Their Own Android Wear 2.0 Smartwatch

It’s one of the many smartwatches built on Fossil’s wearable platform.

Earlier this year, we learned about Fossil’s big plans for wearables — over 300 models to be released this year alone. One of the many fashion brands they’re working with is Armani, and they’re finally ready to announce their Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch. In partnership with singer Shawn Mendes, Armani announced the watch over the weekend during Milan Fashion Week.

Running on Android Wear 2.0, we already know what to expect from the software side of things. We know you can expect Google Assistant, fitness tracking (heart rate tracking is not listed as a feature), watch apps, and a much more streamlined interface that requires fewer taps and swipes. The watch will also come with its own wireless charger, helping to keep the outer appearance of the watch sleek.

We’re not yet sure what the watch case will be made of, but we do know Armani will offer a wide selection of straps, including stainless steel, leather, and silicone options, all of which are interchangeable. Up top, there’s an AMOLED display that should prove bright and easy to read when outside.

From a technical standpoint, it doesn’t stand out from any other Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch on the market. Aside from construction and design, the Fossil Group smartwatches are mostly differentiated by the custom watch faces made available by each brand. Armani has eight watch faces to choose from, all of which can be customized with different colors or widgets. The main design is still the black and green face we saw during Fossil’s announcement a few months ago.

Armani hasn’t confirmed pricing, but we do know we can expect to see Armani’s smartwatch in stores on September 14.
