Situated in the Die Hard class of technically it’s a Christmas movie and you can’t tell us otherwise, we have Gremlins! It’s a classic tale of responsibility, love, and a Christmas present gone awry, so it ticks all the boxes as far as we’re concerned. And anyway, there’s another good reason to include Gizmo in your holiday festivities this year — Gremlins will be leaving Netflix on January 1.
Bing Crosby’s White Christmas is probably the only true Christmas classic still on Netflix. The ’54 movie is classic post-war stuff, with a pure happily-ever-after ending that makes it vital holiday comfort food. It also gave us one of the all-time Christmas song staples in “White Christmas,” one of the few Christmas songs that, while its place in the pantheon can be debated, is at the very least assured of being considered a good Christmas song.
