Sabrina the Teenage Witch gets a new TV series

Not since the days of Melissa Joan Hart and puppet Salem have we seen Sabrina the Teenage Witch get a TV series, but that’s officially changing soon — even if it’s not exactly what we expected. We figured Sabrina would be introduced in the CW’s Riverdale before getting her own spin-off, but the new Sabrina won’t even be on the CW!

Archie Comics

Netflix has ordered two seasons of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which will reportedly be filmed back-to-back. It’s early days, though, and if it gets a big Netflix budget there’s a chance we won’t see it until 2019. The series was originally slated for the CW (it has the same writer as Riverdale), but Netflix picked it up instead. It was meant to at least complement Riverdale, meaning you should expect the new series to take the same darker tone. No puppets in this one!
