If You’re A Female Millennial & You Haven’t Started Your Own Business Yet, This Is Why You Should Make It Happen This Year

One of my most important goals here at Chip Chick is to create a community where every woman can learn to succeed and start her own business. I’ve been lucky in my lifetime to have a mom who supported owning your own business from a young age, and I realize that not every female millennial was born into such a supporting and entrepreneurial environment, so I’ve set out to create it.

I’m your startup cheerleader, and if you haven’t started your own business yet, this is why you should make it happen this year.

You Are Your Own Boss

If you work a 9-to-5, you’re hardly your own boss. You have zero control over getting fired, or getting a raise, or how you spend your time. Owning your own business makes you your own boss. You can choose your hours.

You can choose to work with a client or not. You can choose how to spend your time, and ultimately, how to spend your life.

You Don’t Have To Wait Around For Recognition

It’s a pretty soul killing feeling to be working for a company where your achievements and contributions are never recognized. Been there. Done that.

As a business owner, anything you do is all on you: all your success is on you, and all your accomplishments in your industry are too.

Another benefit is it’s far easier to be recognized as an authority in the industry you’re in if you’re an entrepreneur. It’s really nice at the top, and it’s not so nice to work underneath other people.

Your Earning Potential Is Literally Limitless

When you work for someone else, guess what? Your earning potential is capped. You have a glass ceiling, sweetheart, even if you plan on working for the same company until you retire.

If you own your own company, your earning potential is literally limitless. Nobody is in charge of your income except you.

You Can Work From Anywhere In The World

Kiss your cubicle goodbye. Really, you can as a business owner, especially if your business is digital or based on a virtual service. You can work from a sunshine covered lounge chair on a tropical beach. You can work from the comfort of your own home. You can even work from your bed if you’re not feeling great.

The freedom and flexibility to be able to work from anywhere in the world, so long as you have an internet connection, is quite a worthwhile luxury.
