Maria Fuertes was a sweet 92-year-old woman who lived in Queens, New York.
She was brutally attacked just around the corner from where she lived; on 127th Street, close to Liberty Avenue, in the Richmond Hill neighborhood.
Initially, the responding police officers thought that Maria had fallen, but then they discovered the stomach-churning details of what really happened to her.
Please prepare yourself before reading further, because the details of this case are downright disturbing.

Maria’s neighbors affectionately called her “mom” and she lived in her neighborhood for pretty much her whole life.
She was very kind, loved cats, and took it upon herself to care for the neighborhood strays.
Maria frequently went out late in the evenings to the deli around the corner from her.
There, she would buy tuna and cat food with the money she made from recycling cans, come back home, and feed her four-legged friends.

How anyone could choose to harm such a sweetheart of a 92-year-old is beyond me, but it happened.
On Monday, January 9th, in the early hours of the morning, police responded to a call about an elderly woman lying in the middle of the street.
Someone walking by had found Maria, and she was quickly rushed to the hospital.
