On Monday afternoon, a mom in Ocala, Florida walked to her mailbox, leaving her children home alone playing together for mere minutes.
She thought nothing of leaving them briefly, considering she was just outside and not leaving them alone for long.
This mom was only gone for 10 minutes, but when she walked back through her front door she was met by a terrifying scene.

Her 9-year-old son was stabbing his 5-year-old sister in the back.
According to the probable cause affidavit, her son was yelling, “Die, die.”
This mom then snatched the kitchen knife her 9-year-old was wielding and dialed 911 as she came to her daughter’s aid.
The boy fled, and police later found him hiding in a maintenance shed close to the apartment complex where they live.
“Units are currently on scene at Berkeley Point Apartments working a stabbing investigation involving juveniles,” the Ocala Police Department shared on Facebook.
“The juvenile suspect is in custody and juvenile victim has been airlifted to a nearby hospital.”
“The scene is currently blocked off and secured as Major Crimes Detectives continue to process and interview. More updates will follow.”
The 9-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder, and he upsettingly told officers from the Ocala Police Department that he stabbed his younger sister because he “wanted to be able to go outside.”
He also confided in the officers that he decided two days before he stabbed his sister that he wanted to try to kill her.
Yesterday, a judge ordered that this 9-year-old undergo a psychiatric evaluation, and he is currently in juvenile detention.
He has a public defender, and his name is not being released to the media due to his age. His next court date has been set for Wednesday, February 5th.
“It was just a really disturbing scene,” a spokesperson for the Ocala Police said to WOFL.
Fortunately, the 5-year-old girl is expected to recover and is in stable condition, despite suffering multiple stab wounds at the hands of her brother.
