Sicily is the biggest Mediterranean island, and it sits right off the coast of Italy. It’s quite a popular tourist destination due to its truly amazing beaches, adorable little towns, superb wines, and really delicious food.
Oh, and you can also stay in some castles without spending everything you own, and there are not a lot of places on earth where that’s possible!
It’s also not as crowded as, say, the Amalfi Coast, so it doesn’t exactly feel like a straight-up tourist destination.
Sadly, Sicily has lost more than $1.09 billion dollars since they had to shut down to tourists on March 10th.
The island really relies on revenue generated from visitors and tourism, so when they re-open they are offering to help cover certain costs if you want to visit.
Sicily is offering to give away free tickets for archaeological sites and museums, and they’re also offering to cover up to one third the cost of your hotels and half of your flight to get there.
So how can you get in on this offer?
As soon as Sicily opens back up for business (there’s no news on when that exact date will be though reportedly that will be around May 4th), you can visit their website here to redeem their offers.
So just keep checking back until then!
