Sophia was rushed to a children’s hospital in Sioux Falls. She was put into a medically induced coma in the Intensive Care Unit.
She was suffering from seizures due to the trauma she sustained on the playground, and the doctors had to wait and see if they stopped before performing an MRI.
“Sophie’s pupils were uneven and she was taken in for a CT scan,” the Caring Bridge shared in an update on Sophia.
“The scan showed her brain herniated and there was no recovery possible.”
Two days after her accident, Sophia sadly passed away at 5:06 in the evening on May 12th.
