Unfortunately, it isn’t possible to get the exact bag and wallet that she had, since they are both no longer available from the retailer.
Her date said he was happy to give her the “full replacement value” and without tax, her bag originally cost $1,000 and her wallet cost $1,900.
She picked out a new bag and wallet from the same retailer, a backpack that is about $2,200, and a wallet that costs $400.
“He is upset and is saying he doesn’t feel comfortable buying “higher value” items and I should get a new $1000 bag and $1900 wallet,” she said.
She then said she doesn’t think the value of each piece is important as long as what they cost together is close to what her original items cost.
“It’s not like he gave me a budget for a gift and I am using him,” she concluded. “I am asking him to make good on the promise he made to replace what his dogs ruined.”
Here’s what the internet had to say.
“Your friend wanted to replace the Items with a total cost of $2,900 (without taxes) and you offer him a total of $2,600 to replace, and he gets mad at it?”
“He’s saving $300. What is he mad about?”
