The Akins Early College High School, where Christy was a teacher, took to Facebook to share a post on her after the tragic news of her passing.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Ms. Christina Garcia Mata,” the Akins Early College High School wrote.
“She was a kind soul who always had a huge smile on her face and made friends with everyone. She will be deeply missed by all staff as well as her students.”
“Akins will not be the same without her. We ask that you say a prayer for her family during this hard time.”
